TroyBrock Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 Hello my name is Troy, I recently found my way into the world of Banshee's and the amazing community here at Bansheehq. Yesterday I purchased my very own banshee, it is a 1987, white and red, mostly stock. The only mod that is obvious to me is what I believe to be Moose racing slides. I am very much so a newb to all this stuff and will often come here from my questions, I currently live outside Albany, New York. Thanks for reading, Troy Quote
TroyBrock Posted September 3, 2013 Author Report Posted September 3, 2013 Also if anyone has any suggestions of what I should go through and check on the banshee feel free to leave them, I appreciate it. Quote
foxrider603 Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 Like tommy said check compression, leak down test, bearings, ball joint, oil, brakes, any cracks or bends in the frame Quote

TroyBrock Posted September 3, 2013 Author Report Posted September 3, 2013 I definitely have low compression because I can't jump start it. I plan on buying a compression tester later tonight to check it. I have pictures but the files are too big to upload. Quote

1CrazyBastard Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Troy a compression test is a good idea if it won't "kick " start or just a good idea in general befoe you buy something or if you just bought it and are about to start spending money on it .Will it start at all and run ? Has it been sitting a while ? Quote
Thomas_S Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 Check the rings on the piston if it has low compression you should get new pistons if its a twin and that comes with seals and rings and the bearings that hold it to the crank. mine as well get new spark plus BR8ES run hot. Quote
troyzstang Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 Welcome to Bansheehq Looks like a fairly clean bike for it's age. There's plenty of great members more then willing to help you. There's also a few members that WILL poke at you. Hope you have thick skin. Take your time and learn about your new bike. Banshee's are extremely easy to work on once you learn the basic's Once again welcome Troy Quote
Thomas_S Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 What do you think i should set my new Adv. timing plate to soo I can get the fastest speed out of my banshee, I am slowly making everything aftermarket that isnt already. I have little things left. Quote
TroyBrock Posted September 13, 2013 Author Report Posted September 13, 2013 My Banshee is now in full working condition as of last night, the compression test came back fine 105 on the left and 103 on the right. The reason it wouldn't kick start was a bad stator, put the new one in and now I'm getting a wonderful blue spark. When I get home today I'm putting it all back together after and I'm gonna see what it has to offer. Quote
Strm Trpr Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 Welcome to the BHQ. I noticed there's no rear grab bar and in that first pic. Is the the sub frame, (the part of the frame under the seat) bent up to the left? Quote
