I googled it before i started the topic but wanted to ask on here for some opinions as well. The forged wsm pistons seem to have a decent reputation. Im gonna be running them in a drag ported set of cylinders.

I just tore my motor down as it was so low on compression I don't know how it still started. 6 years of hard riding on the top end and it looks perfect, just well worn. Had the WSM forged pistons in there running 95% klotz r50 at 50:1. I'll snap some pics at the shop this afternoon.

I already bought a .040 over set of forged WSM's to go back in the motor

Now I just need to get the crank rebuilt or buy a new one as the big end bearings are as loose at a $2 hooker.

WSM is great shit! Especially if you get in to the bigger pistons, because big bore sizes are available at a pretty stellar price. TDR distributes the WSM stuff at a great price.

Are they a true forged piston? I always thought wsm only made cast

Edit: after just seeing the pics, those look to be forged

They definitely make both forged and cast. I believe they have some shared manufacturing with Wossner.

I read that cast pistons had better lifespan than forged piston but those WSM almost make me change my mind. A lot of place I read "All I use is wiseco", it's what i have and I feel going another route.

Debating pro-x, wsm (cast and forged), and wossner.

How many hours did you ran it on in 6 years ? Also the top of my piston were a LOT cleaner than that with 32:1 hypertech SSS oil. Don't know if it's supposed to or not.

Seems like we can't edit posts... On their website wsm only list forged under "race pistons"  with added boost port. That's what you have ?

Anyone tried Vertex too ?

These are definitely forged. They do make cast also. Wossner is WSM if I recall correctly.

Don't know on hours, but probably 2500-3000 miles if I had to guess. That's how many miles are on my arctic cat 4x4 and it's seen about the same amount of butt time.

These are the exact ones in the pics I bought from TDR http://www.bansheedepot.com/proddetail.asp?prod=16-5788

I've heard to watch out for the WSM ultra lite weight forged versions because they tend to crack around the intake boost ports.

I've only heard of this happening with guys drag racing them though.

Wossner and wsm are different.

Cast pistons will give a longer service life in your average trail rider if setup properly.

Fwiw i will be running wossers in my 392 cheetah.
