hotrodbanshee Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 What should the compression be on a stock stroke 350 with a hjr dune/play port, weisco prolite piston, and noss head with 19cc domes at 100ft above sea level? I am at 150-152 psi in each clyinder. Quote
Starwriter Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 That's a little low. See the chart near the bottom of the Noss page. http://www.nossmachine.com/banshee_heads.htm 1 Quote
hotrodbanshee Posted February 22, 2013 Author Report Posted February 22, 2013 That's what I thought porting lowers compression some. If I was to drop in some 18cc domes what would it bring my compression up to? Quote

hotrodbanshee Posted February 22, 2013 Author Report Posted February 22, 2013 I am running 100ll avgas. What's the most compression I can get away with? I am running 7degree timing advance. Quote
10milmike Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 Kevin is a good builder, call him and ask him. I am sure he will help u out. Did he build your motor or just port it? 1 Quote
possum Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 Kevin dosent know anything about domes/compression/fuel. To OP leave the 19s and run it. Quote
Pastrykiller Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 Possum, Please elaborate on that statement. I'm sure Kevin has his dome specs that he sends out to have cut. They might not be exactly the same as what another builder would use but that doesn't mean he knows nothing about domes and compression. Quote
Oregon dunner Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 I may be wrong or heard wrong. That you should have domes cut buy the builder that ported your cylinders. I'd this true? Quote
Jereme6655 Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 I have a dune/play port by FAST and 20cc domes and im kicking 156 on each side at 1000'.....when fresh rebuilt. So i would call kevin and ask him his thoughts and opinions......BUT FIRST......id find a different guage and check the accuracy of the reading.......also paying close attention to the adapter on the end of the tester as if it has the collar that extends about an inch to get the correct thread size.....its going to show a false compression level. special06shee Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 X20! Compression gauges vary as much as the weather! My one gauge i bought brand new was 25-30psi off! I e had great luck with craftsman gauges! Quote

Pastrykiller Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 Kevin never cut domes for me. I had a second hand set from m&m then I had wildcard cut me some for the race fuel. Quote
10milmike Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 Kevin sends his domes out to Dave at Noss. Possum, U are so two Faced. To Kevins Face u are all nice, then talk shit behind his back. Forget u are a super Builder. U call him and ask him a million questions, I have been there when u have. I stay out of the drama all the time, But for u to say he does not shit about domes is funny. He sent a set for free on his dime to make u happy... Quote
