kjh Posted December 11, 2012 Report Posted December 11, 2012 On a new top end rebuild I was getting milky oil, so I drained it, replaced the coolant pipe o-ring and water pump gasket again just to be sure(did it originally). Ran it again and Oil was milky right away. After further inspection I found oil coming out of the bearing behind the sprocket. I am going to rebuild my bottom end and am wondering if the water in oil can be from something in the lower end or do I have another issue? If its tied to the bottom end I may try to do lower end without taking top end all apart again since I just did it but am unsure why I have water in oil. Quote
crazycracker520 Posted December 11, 2012 Report Posted December 11, 2012 What kind of head are you running? Stock or aftermarket? Quote
Finch Posted December 11, 2012 Report Posted December 11, 2012 head would have nothing to do with trans oil... Quote
kjh Posted December 11, 2012 Author Report Posted December 11, 2012 water pump seal done twice. Quote
crazycracker520 Posted December 11, 2012 Report Posted December 11, 2012 Sorry had a brain fart!! Lol don't know what I was thinking!! crazycracker Quote
hoppedupandcutdown Posted December 11, 2012 Report Posted December 11, 2012 Then I'd try a new impeller shaft and seal Quote
Surfrjag Posted December 11, 2012 Report Posted December 11, 2012 Once i went from atf to reg oil and it turned my oil super milky white like your describing. What oil have you been using Quote
03DMshee Posted December 11, 2012 Report Posted December 11, 2012 Still have overflow bottle? Have your vent hoses switched with coolant hoses? If you have the vent hooked to hose to overflow you will get coolant directly to case.....2 cents... Quote

kjh Posted December 12, 2012 Author Report Posted December 12, 2012 i do still have an overflow. and i just got done with a frame up build. Its possible thats the cause I will check it out. thanks for the replys. Quote
kjh Posted December 12, 2012 Author Report Posted December 12, 2012 Just checked overflow lines are hooked up correct. Using Maxima MTL 80 Wt oil. Quote
03DMshee Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 Double check those lines....I'd eliminate coolant bottle for time being and run it and see what happens..vent Trans atmospheric and block off waterpump vent......either that or you got major gasket leak.... Quote
Starwriter Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 Initially, you mentioned the waterpump gasket. Then later you mentioned that you replaced the seal twice. Just so you're not calling an apple a banana, you did replace the waterpump seal that presses in behind the bearing, right? There is a water side and an oil side to the seal. Also, make sure the white plastic vent elbow is in the top of the case near the rear motor mount. If it's missing, water from splashing through puddles and from washing the bike can get in there. kjh Posted December 13, 2012 Author Report Posted December 13, 2012 I am not sure, I can't remember so I will take it apart and double check that, thanks for the reply. Quote
