Rotax Raptor Posted November 27, 2012 Report Share Posted November 27, 2012 What the hell is going on here lately. Seems more times than not, you get on here and find a pissed off buyer. Are people just selling junk, not shipping quick enough or are peoples expectations becoming higher. I know that my expectations of "like new" may be a little different than someone elses. Unless people start micing cranks, cylinders and proving the actual condition of a part, there will always be the potential for conflict. From the sellers side of this, a used part is used. If you expect a new condition part that is used, there's a very big chance of a conflict before it's all said and done. I wish we had a way to "certify" parts before we buy or sell them to prevent problems, but we don't. I have two drag motors that I am going to sell that are both great motors, but there's no way I would list them on here as complete running motors. I'm planning on tearing them down and parting them out. Example, motor ran great for me, I had the carbs set up right and now someone buys it at a different elevation and doesn't set it up right and leans it out. His error or lack of tuning knowledge, and I'm the bad guy. Another example, You sell a motor and 3 months later you get the call and are told they just started messing with the motor and found something wrong. Did it sit on the shelf for 3 months or did it go in a bike right away and it shot craps. If we buy used parts there is some risk involved in doing so. Otherwise, buy new at the new part price. I think a lot of disputes on here could have been prevented with a little maturity. Everyone is hungry for money these days, and I think it is no longer just the sellers trying to make a quick buck. Buyers have seen loopholes in the system and exploited them. Luckily, I have only had one person file a dispute with their credit card company after I had completed a service. They had claimed that they knew nothing about So Cal Suspension Systems, and that someone must have stolen their credit card information. Beating that one was simple. I still had a voicemail from this customer on my system, and an email from them as well. I forwarded both an mp3 file of the voicemail, and copies of the email, and invoices along with copies of the delivery confirmation from usps. The customer later recanted his story citing that his "son" used his credit card without him knowing and had purchased. His son was 6, which he told me in that very same email that he was building up a blaster for him for when he was old enough to be able to ride it. With paypal being such a prick and siding with very little information regarding the truth, I'm ready to start doing money orders on both sides of transactions. I sold this douche a PVL and got stung. He claimed it was broken when infact called me 5 times having me help him get the timing right. Paypal refunded him and when he sent it back the flywheel it was beat to shit from him taking it off. I agree, there are issues with both buyers and sellers. Sellers are getting lazy with proper descriptions and pictures. Im personally getting tired of this "if you want pics txt me" I think thats bull shit and screams scam to me. As a seller, When I sell a item that has a issue/flaw.. I go into great detail about it and take lots of pictures. If I happen to find something before I ship the item. Sometimes my time is limited,so i have to post the pix the next day,,,but i always try to get them IN THE AD..i hate that "txt for pix" lazy stuff. Why not make pictures in the ad mandatory? I try to bust balls and get the ones who don't post pics to do so and I got bitched at. I hope none ever posts another pic in the sale section ever again. Buyers will blame the seller and claim the description wasn't accurate. Sellers will blame the buyer and cite unrealistic used part conditions. There is NO way to police this shit. guns4children Posted November 27, 2012 Report Share Posted November 27, 2012 Yea shayne... when selling stuff I usually go into fine detail about my parts. but as a person that buys a fuck ton of stuff on here. id say about 60% of my parts I got where as described to the dot... Some parts I have gotten that where far from what was told thankfully I never needed to do a claim on here as they where still in working order at the least. and I usually always confirm with the seller... item is as described no other issues ext... But i also feel that at least a large percentage of the deliberate scammer/ dishonest sellers would be discouraged from pawning their junk off on people if pictures were mandatory. If people see the pics and see your description.. then if shit hits the fan. you got proof of what was sold for everyone to see. Buyers and sellers are both getting lazy.
