lms1977 Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 I'm going to try and put my 535 together over winter and I am debating about putting a lockup in as well. I kinda would like to keep the stock side cover on just cause I like the look. I'm not one who will be changing the weights / balls out etc with the clutch once I get it to where it works I'm done playing with it!!! So what are the advantages and disadvantages to both of these? Thanks Quote
possum Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 slingshot style can hold more power as well. Quote
locogato11283 Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 slingshot style can hold more power as well. I suppose you've got proof of this? Quote
trickedcarbine Posted November 15, 2012 Report Posted November 15, 2012 Slingers have their advantages that is for sure and I definitely think that it would be the hot ticket for a guy like you. The extra mass works like added flywheel weight would for the Gncc guys. I love the slingshot, but someone needs to come up with a good quick change cover for drag guys to use them, but they are perfect for the trail guys Quote
trickedcarbine Posted November 15, 2012 Report Posted November 15, 2012 I suppose you've got proof of this? There are a few builders who have made that same claim though.... Not just slingshot manufacturers Quote
AKheathen Posted November 15, 2012 Report Posted November 15, 2012 couldn't you mod the stock cover with a plexi lense? isn't someone making a quick-change kit? Quote
Paulie B Posted November 15, 2012 Report Posted November 15, 2012 Can you use stock springs with a slingshot and still trail ride? Quote
Surfrjag Posted November 16, 2012 Report Posted November 16, 2012 Yes you can paulie and you better have a pancake bearing Quote
Paulie B Posted November 16, 2012 Report Posted November 16, 2012 (edited) Every 2 stroke motor with a clutch should have a bearing there lol Yes you can paulie and you better have a pancake bearing Every 2 stroke with a clutch should have that extra bearing. Thanks Justin. I think I'm at the point to where I need a slingshot. I just didn't want to spend the money if I can't ride the other 99% of the time I'm not racing. trickedcarbine Posted November 16, 2012 Report Posted November 16, 2012 Slingshot, there is a little info in the clutch tuning thread on them in drag section. I always reccomend a lock up. Even if it's not nesaccary power wise..... I still prefer soft springs for easy pull and a lock up allows you to do just that. Quote
Nightmare Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 Which one for drag only? Sent from my SGH-T679 using Tapatalk 2 Quote

AKheathen Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 i run a sling shot with half the balls and stock springs. been fine so far. i'm curious, too, how the pull is compared to the arm setup i have. just hard as hell to pull it at high trans rpm, but works just fine in the woods for me Quote
