Joejr915 Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 Thinking about putting my cub on alky. Whats a good compression for alky Quote
CFH87 Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 I run 175-180psi for a SS cub... But it all depends on set up for optimum performance I'd have new domes cut if I were you. Quote
vulvafan537240 Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 I run 160. couldnt you get by with race gas at 160? Quote
So Cal Suspension Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 couldnt you get by with race gas at 160? His wife said race gas was too expensive. Sorry. I had to. Quote
Surfrjag Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 Get some domes for alky. You could have lower compression with higher squish velocity and vice versa. Higher velocity would call for higher octane or alky to keep from detonating. Not saying you cant run your current setup on alky but why not get the right setup. I hear setup is key. Quote
Joejr915 Posted October 16, 2012 Author Report Posted October 16, 2012 I run 175 with gas. Does 200-210 sound ok for 500ft drags? Quote
coryv4 Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 I've been told by several builders alky domes are not neccesary and more for people chasing times. if that is so why does one build constantly say if the domes arnt right it wont perform every time you mention a mod and also puts out higher numbers then most? possum Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 my race gas domes are alky domes.. 165ish 19cc Quote
Finch Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012
my race gas domes are alky domes.. 165ish 19cc

I know k n t uses the same domes for both Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2 Quote
Surfrjag Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 if your running alky arent you more than likely racing/chasing times? i would like to see a dyno run with a bike running domes setup for alky vs std domes. maybe ill try it out.. i am curious to see myself. my 421 cub on alky is only running about 150 psi Quote
vulvafan537240 Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 I'm confused. Why run alky if you can use race gas with your compression with no deto? Quote
Finch Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 Why run gas domes on alky when you could get some cut for alky and possibly gain "more power" Quote
CFH87 Posted October 17, 2012 Report Posted October 17, 2012 Run em then finch you'll need em lol Quote
possum Posted October 17, 2012 Report Posted October 17, 2012 Why run gas domes on alky when you could get some cut for alky and possibly gain "more power" let me rephrase that my alky dome is my race gas dome.. ponder that for a while. Quote
