Hey all,

Today I was trying to get the spindle free from the A arm

So I put a nut on the threads of the ball joint and started beating it free with a hammer.

Next thing I know the threads on the ball joint are smashed down.

And I am not sure what my next step is.

Can I get a lower ball joint for the a arm?

Or do I have to hunt down a whole a arm?

They are stock a arms.

The ball joints on stockers aren't replaceable. You sposed to put the nut flush against that piece dawg.

Next time hit the spindle right where the tapered part goes thru - that shocks it loose with NO damage. Never hit the ball joint or threads or arm etc.

I pulled my arms off today too. I started off with this method but still needed to hit the ball joint to break it free. But what I did was screw a nut half way on to the threads then screw a bolt into the other half and tightened it up. This way you're hitting the end of the stud and the threads are safe. Still needed the impacts around where the tapered part goes through. I've got all but the upper left off, that bolt is frozen solid inside the tube. Might be a grinder job.

If they aren't totally screwed up you might be able to clean them up with a tap and die set. Depends how bad you dicked it up.

I thought about that.

you wouldn't happen to know the thread size would ya?

Ok I am a dummy does + 2 mean 2 inches taller or wider?

and does any one make a stock size A arm with a replaceable ball joint?

I cant make the bike wider because it wont fit in my truck, it barely fits now.

I've had luck getting messed up balljoint threads fixed with a thread file... They weren't very screwed up, but enough to not make the castle nut want to go on...

Wider, and a thread file is a great idea, just show more patience with it than you did removing it in the first place.
