JpRedline Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 Hi guys, I just bought a nice used(5-6hrs) set of cylinders w/pistons from -Deacon- They are Dune/play ported by Kevin. Problem is i have an unwelded stock crank/rods... Just wondering if my setup is good like it is + the added porting... -Should i change my domes for 21cc's to lower the compression because of the added porting(High Rev) ?? High Compression + High RPM = lost of stress on stock crank/rods! -Also what should i expect to do with my jetting? Here is my setup; 2008 stock crank/cyl's (20hrs max on engine) PC platinum, CFM open airbox, 20cc's Noss head, Adv timming +4, Chariot intake w/crossover, chariot reeds. Stock carbs 27.5pilot, 330Main Elev 1700' Temp 80 Max Compression (dont know yet,150psi?) Thanks, any help is apreciated! Quote
BigRed350x Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 Just split your cases and send the crank out to get welded... If you have kevin do the crank weld you would be back up and running in a couple weeks. - Jared Quote

I sent him my jugs, my motor was apart for like 15 days. his 10 day turn around is the best. Quote
JpRedline Posted June 3, 2012 Author Report Posted June 3, 2012 I understand and totaly would, but i live 2200 miles north of him and will cost me about 150$ of shipping+labour loll... -What if i lower the compression to 21-22cc's?... that will help to take some stress out of the crank right? But I guess my only answer is to weld the crank!.... Hehe. I have a New HR 4mill ,i'll swap it when i have some spare time.....probably next winter haha -What about the jetting?...., richer on everything for the Dune/play? Quote
bluebanshee98 Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 i have kevins 4 mil dune port. kick ass set up! jetting is 330 mains in stock carbs Quote
Strm Trpr Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 Stock stroke dune/play ported cylinders will not work with a 4 mil crank. Find a builder in Canada or northern US to weld your stock crank. Kevin doesn't have to weld it for you. Quote

Im trying to find an Atv shop to get my crank true&welded, hopefully in Edmonton or Calgary.. Quote
Jereme6655 Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 So say shipping is $150 and let's say the weld job is $65......makes it $215 total. New crank is $400 for a stock crank........ Not to mention If it were to fail in a very bad way it could damage more than your crank.... Quote
