rocky_mtn_yamaha Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 (edited) Just wanted to say whatsup to everyone and introduce myself. I've got 4 quads, but my most recent purchase was a 2000 Banshee from a guy on craigslist who was hard up for cash and it was seized. I think I got a pretty smokin deal on it for $700.00 with all the aftermarket parts on it...nerfs, full skids, full FMF Fatty/Power Core duals. At any rate, after owning it for less than 12 hours, I've got the plastics, gas tank, cylinder head, and jugs off...bummer is, theres vertical play in the notorious right connecting rod...but o well, time to split the cases and have her ready to rip by spring. This thread will serve as a chronicle of my rebuild progress for those of you who might actually care. I don't plan on going crazy with the mods as this will be a family quad. I spent all my upgrade money on my Honda 400ex. So at this point, if anyone knows where I might be able to get a stock crank that is in good condition for a reasonable price, please enlighten me. I try to stay away from ebay from bad past experiences. Thanks for having me guys, and I apologize in advance for being a PITA if I have a lot of questions. I've rebuilt a ton of quads and bikes, so I'm sure I'll be allright though. And yeah, the bike came with the Clymers manual, and I have the factory Yamaha one too. O yea, I guess the reason it locked up on them was, they let a freind borrow it and that "friend" ran it out of coolant (must have had a bad head gasket or something) so she seized. volcrano Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 why is the right connecting rod notorious for vertical play?????? ive never heard of problems with them. Quote
Jereme6655 Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 why is the right connecting rod notorious for vertical play?????? ive never heard of problems with them. maybe its something to do with the right side crank seals.....seems like the seals on that side are more prone to failing......wondering if that causes the bearings to be munched on and thus cause excessive play.... ALMOSTINFAMOUS1 Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011 looks like a hell of deal Quote
