patsbansh Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 need to know what brand of plates and steels the draggers are running and how you like them and i have a slingshot lock up if that helps 421 on Alky Quote
camatv Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 driveline clutch.. OR r-1 fibers, rappy 660 steels and toomey, barnet, or matton springs.. i like the matton springs.. Quote
locogato11283 Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 I've always used the FAST clutch and it has worked well. I also have a lockup so that will keep just about any clutch from slipping. Quote

I do have a lockup its a slingshot i just hear guys talking about slipping in 5th and 6th while racing th e 1/4 on asphalt. Thats what i built this bike for. now i'm just waiting to get my cub cylinder and crank back from Herr and my swingarm n a-arms from FAST. Quote

Clutch tuning is one of the key factors to being fast on asphalt. The slingshot is going to be a bear to making quick clutch changes in the pits. Quote
locogato11283 Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 I'm not sold on the Slingshot's anyway. I understand the concept behind them, but I don't see how they can work as well as the conventional lockup style. If they were better I think we'd hear more about them. Quote
shanYE west Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 there is more adjustability with a slingshot then DD style. But.. some styles do require you to remove the cover to make the adjustments. Quote
RadarRacing Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 A slingshot with the FAST clutch would hold about anything. With a slingshot there's only 6 allen heads to remove the clutch. I love the slingshot and its easy to tune. Just run fewer or more bearings. Nothing holds up IMO like the slingshot. I haven't replaced a clutch since I got one. Quote
camatv Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 both styles of lockup work well. the slingshot will hold a LOT of HP it sometimes takes a LOT of weight on a finger locker to hold high loads and high HP. both work great but only one you can hide under a cover... Quote
SlowerThanYou Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 patsbansh, 1/4 mile tuneups is a totally different than most set-ups. There are very few people that do it well and are fast. If it was as easy as everyone thinks; then everyone one would be doing it. Quote
