Slasher99 Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Hey Guys, Have a 2001 banshee rebuilt top end, boysen reeds, fmf sst pipes and k&n filter with box and lid still on. Running 30 pilots, 2 turns out, 270 mains, needle 3rd clip @1800FT. It ran fine 2 years ago and since then its hasn't run much. Cleaned out the carbs and draned the old fuel. Installed new plugs. I have no air leaks. Basically when the bike is cold i pull the choke out all the way and it will run after 2 or 3 kicks. THen it runs for 3-5 seconds and then stalls. Then its just a nightmare to try and get running. It will start then stall and keeps doing that. Eventually it will run and then i can rev it up and it will warm up and then run fine. Will start with one kick once warm. THen i leave it for a few days and the samething happens. I've tried 25, 27.5, 30 pilots and all postions on the air screws. Adjusted the idle scews, carbs are synced. Choke tube is good. I'm starting to lean towars the stater/coil or spark issue. Spark seems good. but bike will start idle fine for 2-3 seconds and then die. I have to get it running and then rev it when it cold to get it to idle, if i don't rev it just dies like the spark is cutting out. Anybody got any ideas? Shaun Quote
Slasher99 Posted May 9, 2011 Author Report Posted May 9, 2011 forgot to mention compression is around 120psi per cyclinder Quote
Larry's Shee Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Are you pushing choke in soon as it starts? Maybe try only pushing in halfway for minute or 2. Might want to clean carbs again. As long as it set I would get some Berrymans carb dip and soak them bitches , be sure to completely dissasemble and don't soak rubber, plastic, or gaskets. Quote
putzer Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 try turning it to reserve the fuel filter could be a little cloged the same thing was happening to me i pulled the peacock out and it had some dirt on it and its bin good since Quote
Larry's Shee Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 Did you soak the carbs or just quick spray? Pull pilot jet and look to see that you can see through it. Make sure that if you blow air thru pilot circut it comes out in carb bore. Small passage don't take much to clog. Quote
moledigger Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 You put the bowls on the wrong carb. The one with the little gold beed on the front side goes on the left carb. Quote
