I have a 2004 banshee. The only way I can get it started is to pop the clutch rolling down a hill, It will only stay running if the throttle is applied. I removed my carbs to clean them and their clean as a whistle. Any ideas?

Pull the plugs,drop some fuel down the holes,put the plugs back in. Kick it over and if it starts then it narrows it down to either carb issue's or compression issues.

Thx Ill try it later when I get off work. If it does start that way would that be the carb or compression problem?

I would first believe carb issue. When the bike starts pull the choke on. If putting on the choke allows the bike to start to idle and or the bike runs better at under 1/8 throttle then that means pilots are to small or clogged up.

If you have not done a compression test on it I would suggest to do that as well, Low compression will not allow the crankcase to create enough vacume to draw enough air through the carbs. This will not allow the cylinders to get

enough atomized mixture to fire.

 

My best guess is you got issues with your pilot jets.

I can get it to start popping the clutch and with the choke on or off it still wont idle, almost the moment i let off the throttle it dies... thx for your help

 

Sounds like your TORS may be bad. There's a switch in the throttle box (on the handle bars) that closes(?) at the very bottom of throttle free play. You could try disconnecting the box on the left side up under the gas tank. There's lots of how to's on here to disconnect it all.

Ya i checked that crossover hose and it seem secure. I need to disconnect that pos they call a tors but I dont see that being the problem but I dont know, Im bout to break down and take it to a shop and pay the fat diagnosis fee

No I havent had time to mess with it but thats my plan tomorrow. Ive been reading alot online and I believe the problem is from my carbs not being in sync with eachother...

You can check that visually. As far as starting is concerned, it'll be close enough even if it's not optimal. Just look down the throat of the carbs and make sure the slides bottom at the same time. Good luck

thx for everyones help. Ill let ya know whats whrong when i figure it out. If anyone has anymore suggestions it would be appreciated. Finally got pics posted up of my turd bike lol.
