Just redid my top end and got bigger carbs. now when it kicks over it revs really high in idle. does the airscrew need adjustment?

I facing the same issue...I need to get my carbs synced better...and then mess with the air/fuel screws...maybe try the same....mine don't rev real high, it just starts, then it gets a tad higher, and a tad sppratic....hopefully this helps...maybe we can fig it out...I'm gonna mess with mine when my pipes cool down...if it fixes it then I'll let you know

I think you should tell a little more what you have in there. What carb´s, jets and adjustments. There can be more than one reason for high RPM idling.

it almost sounds to me that you have either an airleak or your carb is WAY lean... A lean condition will actually cause the engine to rev HIGHER......and since its lean it will actually cause a meltdown. You should really do a leakdown test to see whether you need to fix a leak or whehter you need to do a plug-chop and richen up your jetting in your bike.

alrighty fellas sorry it took me so long to respond back. built me a leak down tester and followed steps coverd in other posts. it passsed, but i did notice that my my right cylinder appears to be leaking some coolant. i would have thought that would have showed up on the leak down test. im running 34mm carbs with 45-50 pilot, the air screw was at 1 1/2 turns i was thinking that maybe tighten the air screws all the way and go from there. but i should prob. take off the right cylinder and fix that leak first?

so i figured out what my problem was.... im an idiot ! haha but yeah when i step up my carb size from a 28 to a 34mm i never adjusted the throttle cable. so thats why it was reving up so high at idle. ohh well problem solved.
