Hey guys what's good? I just picked up a 2004 Banshee the other day and I am looking to do some work to it. I just got rid of my 2002 Raptor 660 to get it. It is all stock except it has the tors removed and it is bored .20 over. This is my first banshee so I am wondering what I should do first. I ride trails and a few small tracks. I am looking to do pipes, reeds, jetting, intake, and other stuff. I would also like to know if any one has an opinion on some good cheap nerf bars bumpers and ect. I am not looking to spend a ton of money. I am 15 and do not have a job yet so the cheaper everything is the better. I am trying to build a quad with decent bottom end for the trails and I also want to beat my friends brand new yfz450. He owned my raptor and now thinks his quad is the greatest quad they make. I really appretiate any suggestions. Thanks a lot for your time.

hey man, congrats on the new quad ! they're a shit load of fun :D.

just pipes, filter kit and a re jet with an open air box will make a big difference, pipes like toomey t6's, pro circuits, paul turners and a few other low rpm pipes will do great in the trails. Some boyesen or carbon tech reeds will also make a small difference.

if you want some nerfs or bumpers, check out a member NYUK he might have pipes, nerfs and everything you need, maybe even a timing plate to advance the ignition timing to give you a bit more performance.

Thanks man. I will check out NYUK to see what he has. Do you know what it would take to beat my friends yfz450? Like would just pipes, re-jet, reeds and open air box do it? Or would I also need and motor work to beat him? His is a 2010 yfz450x all stock. I would love to have some good bottom end but i also want to beat him because he thinks his quad is the best and banshees suck. thanks again.

If you want to beat your friends YFZ then you will need to port the cylinders.

Hey dude. You don't think i can get away with just pipes, reeds, re-jetting and open air box? His quad is all stock and he is going to keep it that way. He also just started riding so he is not the best rider in the world. I was able to keep up with him on my stock raptor 660.

Thanks for the reply.

I would get some Pro Circuit pipes, Cool head or milled head, filters(I always run with no air box), reeds, ect...

Honstly those 450 are pretty fast stock...but with a few mods you should be able to give him a run for your money. I beat piped 450's before I ported my shee with no problem. Alot has to do with how you set your bike up.

As of right now, focus on performance bolt ons and you'll be surprised how much power increase you can get just from some good pipes on there. MAKE SURE...you re-jet though!

ok cool. He just started riding maybe 4 months ago and went out and bought himself a brand new 450. Do you know how a stock banshee compares to a stock raptor 660? i just got rid of my 660 for this. there is too much snow here to ride now or i would have know how fast it really is.

thanks for the reply

whats your budget it adds up quik

right now I have very little money but i am going to be spending all the money i get in the next few months on the banshee. I am 15 and i do not have a job. i will be selling lots of stuff on ebay and if i have to one of my old bikes. I would say that in total i will be spending around 800 maybe a little more.

thanks

pipes and porting are going to be the most expensive parte....but they are gonna give you the holy shit factor in power that you pick up...

what should be the first thing i should get then? reeds? with pipes or intake i am going to have to re-jet which is going to cost more money..

thanks

Congrats on becoming a Banshee owner. Mods are very tricky, I put my money on pipes T5's, Vforce 3 reeds, hemi head, bored .20 with a trail port, adj. timing plate, Mine dynoed at 60 - 61hp it really woke up my machine, great for playing around with but I do alot of trail riding and should of put my money into the suspension. When the trail gets rough my friends riding their newer 4 pokes ( 2 - TRX700XX's and a Raptor 700) pull away from me until I hit a smoother straight away watch out here I come. If you end up rebuilding your top end make sure you get it ported thats where the powers at. I payed $150 to get my cylinders ported and it was worth every penny. If i remember right the Stock YZF450 is approx 38hp at the wheels and a stock banshee is around 36hp been awhile i could be wrong. It doesnt take to many bolt ons to out power him and there is a million used performance parts out there if your on a budget. Just don't waste your money on a boost bottle for your intakes they do nothing for ya stick with your stock cross over tube. Just remember bolt on's become very addictive and you cant stop with just one. Good luck and welcome to the Banshee world.

Thanks man. What do you think would be the least amount of mods i could do to beat him? Do you think i could get away with just good pipes boysen reeds and re-jeting for now? I can always get the cylinders ported when i rebuilt the top end eventually. It was just rebuilt before i got it and bored .20 over. Also how much of a difference does the adjustable timing plate make?

Thanks for the reply.
