shoopie Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 (edited) i pulled my silencers apart yesterday to drill and install some sheet-metal screws because the rivets on my P.C. 2's were wearing off. i pulled the cap off of one and it was completely empty. no packing, no insert tube, nothing. the thing is, my bike ran great when it was running a few weeks ago. is it okay for the motor to run it with no packing? i am definitely going to buy some packing and make some tubes for them but is it okay for me to run it for now until i do that? also when i put the packing in will i have to change my jetting? thanks guys. -Ryan Edited November 4, 2010 by shoopie Quote
f00pda3w00p Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 no you wont have to rejet all the packing is for is to quite it down Quote
shoopie Posted November 4, 2010 Author Report Posted November 4, 2010 also, do the insert tubes go from the headpipes all the way through to the tips of the silencers or do they only go part of the way through? Quote
crustydemon Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 The tubes should go all the way to the tips, thats how there held solid. I would disagree that the packing is only to quiet it down. Quote

No you won't have to rejet. Quote
crustydemon Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 not really trying to be a smart ass or anything but what else would it be for? Worn out or missing packing will cause a loss of power through turbulence in the silencer. If you dont believe me take your packing out. Quote
jbooker82 Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Yep packing keeps the exhaust flowing straight through the perforated center core. With no packing there is a lot of turbulence in the exhaust silencer. That causes a decrease in exhaust flow which causes a drop in hp. But hay it sounds bad ass. Quote
rdzbangshee Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 that's the first thing banshee owners do to give it that fart can effect for your fat ass and run 100 to 1 in the gas then let the bitch run it on strait gas ha ha Quote
FASTOYS Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Need to have a good clean perforated core in there. It will pick up trq/hp with good packing in it. Make sure to wrap the new packing TIGHT and use strips of Masking tape about every 2-3 inches. Use new rivets or locktight the bolts in the endcap. Quote
