gotta_goatsfast Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 I'm just curious, would it be economical to have my stock clutch cover sent out to be machined so that it will work with a lock-up clutch? Is there a place anyone recommends? I'll need a lock-up clutch for my build, and I have a stock cover that I would like to do something with whether it be sent out and worked on or use it as a core extange for a little bit of money off??? Let me know what your opinions and thoughts are about this. Thanks! Quote

jbirdshee Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 just look up a gigot slingshot lockup it fits under your stock cover Quote
gotta_goatsfast Posted October 24, 2010 Author Report Posted October 24, 2010 Methyman, I seen that searching on Ebay. Seems to be a good deal to me. I really don't need a polished show piece as it will get the shit kicked out of it racing and trails and such. I really want the quick change cover just for the ease of tuning a lock-up clutch without having to pull the entire cover off. Thanks guys. Quote
jbooker82 Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Throw the factory clutch cover in with the beer cans and recycle it. Then get a Direct Drive new cast cover. Quote

AKheathen Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 not a bad price to run a matton lockup-, but i like my dd lock-up and cover, even if i get it all nasty in the woods and mud......just hand polished it real quick last month..... Quote
RagunCajun Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Why not just use an undercover slingshot. I use Vito's version. Works like a champ. Takes like 5 min to modify it once it's over. Basiclly you just grind/file down the three little nipples behind where the clutch cover insert screws screw into. Then you put some lock tight. Done. Quote
trickedcarbine Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Wow! $255 for a Mattoon Machine lock up and a custom machined cover. That is a pretty good deal. Personally I run the slingshot from Driveline and it really doesn't need to be constantly adjusted if you read the directions real well. It helps you make a very solid determination as to where and how many weights to use from the get go so you really wont need to keep "tuning" the lock up. Quote
