CPI silencer leaking

This mite be a dumb question but thought I'd throw it out there anyways.

 

I bought my CPI inframes used. One of the silencers leaks oil out of a small bolt on the canister...its a small leak and takes an hour or so to start, but with lots of hard riding it starts dripping on my axle and shit. I have to constantly be wiping oil from the silencer. I've tried pulling the bolt and putting rvt on the threads...and that didn't work. I called CPI and they said to pull the bolt and put red lock tight on the threads...and that didn't work.

 

I'm really starting to get sick of this, and thinking about buying a new silencer.

 

Any suggestions?!?

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY NEW CPI BB PIPES

Try some pipe dope, or plumbers tape? Or drop the silencers and go stingers only...

Two things come to mind. First is that your packing is soaked . Second is to completly clean the area of all oil then use rvt or loctite , might even be leaking where "nut" is spot welded to can.

Yeah I clean the area really well, but nothing seems to work. Maybe I'll find a set of silencers to buy.

Have you repacked them?

If not, give it a shot.

No I haven't tried that yet...maybe that would work.

Seal the silencet end caps with rtv too. If you rtv ed the threads it isn't coming through them.

Its from the oil not being fully burnt off. I have the same thing happen to me all the time if im pussy foot'n my bike around. Now if im at the dunes riding the piss out of it then I dont have the prob. But your prob in need of a repack. I try to repack mine every year.
