Upper case hole.

Every time i crack my cases i have always wondered what this hole was for in the upper case above the kicker shaft hole.

I mean nothing goes there, maybe could be a oil passage hole? Or was it needed when they were machined?

Just seems useless to me is all.

I'm quite certain it was a hole for a mechanical tach drive on the early RZ 350 bikes Chris. I think it ran from above the kicker shaft to center of the case and then came up through the top of the case towards the back.

X2, that is exactly why it is there, it is left over from when the cases were used on the RZ.

It's my free home made 2 min job engine stand.

Small old electrical panel door, drilled 2 holes, bent the top, used some old nuts to space it a bit, bolted it on, lifted into the vise and it was done.

100x easier working on the motor like that VS it moving around fussing on the bench.

Works really well too.
