lincster Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Stan, Hate to tell you this, but we are going to Gordons Well, that is on the South side of the dune range. Not camping at Glamis. We are you coming from? I believe you will have to go South thru Lake Powell/Flagstaff highways. Then through Phoenix and to Yuma. Long trip for you. Quote
FastBanshee01 Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 You guys can count me in on this, What weekend is it gonna be? Quote
THX-1138 Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 from where I live in Arizona it takes me the same amount of time to drive to either side. going to the Glamis beach store I go through Blyth and turn south on 78 witch is a slow road. it feels like you are driving through someone's front yard in a few places. the road is not that great with big dips and very curvy, lots of cops. but going to Gordon's Well it's a faster drive but 20 miles more to drive. go south from Quartzsite on 95 to Yuma and then it's 15-20 miles west on I-8 . what's so great about camping at Gordon's Well you have Yuma for supplies and MEXICO for fun. we go over the border every trip. I go see a dentist because of how cheep they are. venders galore selling all kinds of stuff. and you can get Medication real cheep, hell they were handing out samples of Viagra on the street corners. ohhh and Jethro ! you can drink legally down there. hey Stan you will drive right by my house if you go through Flagstaff. so stop at my house in Chino Valley (I have 2 acres) sleep some then it's 4-5 hours from my house. it takes me 4 1/2 hours to get home from Lake Powell. maybe that will give you some idea of your travel time. I hope to see everyone ! Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted August 6, 2003 Report Posted August 6, 2003 Well the last time I drove even anything thing near that far was the first AND LAST time I drove to Vegas. Around a 6 hour drive. I think its around 350 miles from here. When I was 10 was the last time I went to Powell, and the roads were all 55 mph then it was like a 10 hour drive. I think now my peeps make it in 7 or 8. Can I get on mapquest to find a good route to Gordens Well? Im thinking I better sell a lot of shit between now and november if I'm going to be able to go. Quote
Chemical Castration Posted August 6, 2003 Author Report Posted August 6, 2003 Stan I just checked out mapquest and it would take 14 hours and 38 minutes to go from Riverdale to Yuma. I'm assuming that doesnt include sleep, eating and bafroom breaks. Although I noticed that the mapquest times are always slow because nobody really drives at the speed limit all the time, even if youre going 1 or 2 miles over the limit after a driving that far it makes a huge difference. Im thinking I better sell a lot of shit between now and november if I'm going to be able to go. Shit?? As in guano banshee parts???? Quote

Cool. I don't know about other states, but once you get outta Provo, the speed limits are around 70, which translantes to almost 80 if you don't want to attract any unwanted attention. Imma check out the total mileage too. Thanks LEFTY!!!! *edit* 745.66 miles. About 11.5 hours of just driving. I think I can handle that.........its like 3.5 to St. Anthony Idaho, and I drove up there for the day once. Im thinking I better sell a lot of shit between now and november if I'm going to be able to go. Shit?? As in guano banshee parts???? LOL! Yeah. Speaking of which, what kind of guano should I use? Bat guano is hard to come by around these parts. Quote

Yeah that stuff is getting harder to come by these days. You should talk to QuadMX I'm sure he could hook you up since he has his cow milkin job. Quote

I have driven everywitch way and 95 will get you to Gordons faster than going through Arizona. what route did the map quest come up with ? Quote
azsandrat Posted August 7, 2003 Report Posted August 7, 2003 Hey Stan, THX is right. Take 15 south to Las Vegas and then 95 to Yuma. Page takes you way into AZ for no reason. Stan the last time I was in Layton I spun out a Honda accord coming home from Snowbird. It was right on a bridge and luckily I did a 360 and didn't hit a thing. I just had to change my pants. There is no better snow than UTAH SNOW.... Quote

There is no better snow than UTAH SNOW.... Yeah the snow can get bad here. Some mornings I'm sitting in my drive way trying to get the ice to melt off of my windshield for around 15 minutes. I was in my wifes Civic this winter going through Sardine Canyon (bad canyon to be in the winter, one of the coldest places in utah us half way through the canyon) and we nearly went off the road into a toyota truck and a mountian of snow. I think thats the route map quest gave me. I95 and then some other stuff, like left hand turns and things like that. Took me to down town Yuma. Quote
