Vintage Smoke Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 Has anyone ever tried or even considered/researched using CV (Constant Velocity) carbs on a Banshee or other 2 stroke? I have used/tuned them extensively on 4 strokes with great results (excellent low end/throttle response with no compromise in top end), but have never heard of anyone using them on 2 strokes. I wonder why? I have a nearly brand new set of 34mm Kehin CVK carbs and all the jets and needles to tune them. I would really like to try it unless someone out there can tell me it definitely wont work and why. In other words if it is guaranteed to NOT work for some reason, I would rather spen the time on somethhing productive. Is it possible that it just hasn't ever been done before? Quote
locogato11283 Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 seems unlikely that its never been tried. i would imagine that if it was tried and had great results that we would all know about it. i am assuming there is a reason its not talked about. Quote
jbooker82 Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 I don't know. People ditch the mikuni cv carbs on 660 Raptors in favor for a pair of keihin FCR's. I think there is an austriala 2 stroke shop that uses FCR's on banshee's. As for a cv carb being a performance carb I wouldn't consider it one. You have a butterfly in the carb that restricts flow. The reason why they have good low speed performance is because they are slow to react. They are great for mfg's because of how smooth they are. What is good for joe public isn't always the best for performance. Quote
