I know most people already have removed TORS...BUUUT...my 97 shee has always hated just the smallest of mud puddles. It would miss and sputter for awhile then come back to life. The first time, I did find water inside the flywheel cover. So, i sealed the grommet where the wiring harness is and replaced gasket. It happened again the other day and I was going to fix this shit for good. Took flywheel cover off, bone dry! Checked air filter box, bone dry! Put it back together and still did it. So, I disconnected all the TORS and it went away. Again, I may be the only dumshit that had TORS still hooked up,but not anymore. I guess water would get into one of the connections or something. Sorry for the long post but maybe this will help someone else who may have a similar issue.

Have you checked your plug caps out yet? I bet they are not sealing like there suppose to. Next time you go through a puddle look at them, mine was shooting electricity down to the nut that you tighten the spark plug up with. Quick fix would be to get some electrical grease and smear it in there, or buy some new caps.

Seems they still somewhat hate water even after TORS is removed! We had just had some major rain and I went out along the trails and decided to follow the creek to see how high it was in various places. Theres a spot with an open field and I laid into it and was wound up in about third gear when I hit a "puddle" of standing water, it was actually a LOT of standing water and it threw a huge wall of water up over the front of the shee soaking me and turning the whole bike mostly sideways.. When I hit the other side I had slowed a whole bunch but as soon as I hit the throttle it stuck! I was in an open field and half expecting it to stick as i've heard they do stick when they get wet so at least I was ready for it! :)

yah, gotta watch out for that moisture in the carbs, lol.......choke helpswith that, untill the water dries up........x2 on the plug caps. spray them and all connectors you can find with electrical cleaner, then use trucklite nyk for connectors, and the silicone dielectric for the plug caps/wires. i even use nyk for my kill/headlight switches.

Mine was doing that last fall and it ended up being the plug caps. I forget what brand I bought but think it was NGK. They fit nice and tight and with some di-electric grease never have had an issue again.
