mxwild74 Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Just got my clutch half way assembled and am wondering how far or tight to take the clutch spring screws down as i know too tight it wont move but this is a non running motor at the moment, is there a way to adjust it outside of having it running and playing it by feel or just go by the torque specs in the clymer manual which says 7.4 lb/ft of which also seems to tighten them down an awful long way. Any info would be appreciated... Quote

Don't lock tight them though. Quote

mxwild74 Posted March 28, 2010 Author Report Posted March 28, 2010 cool thanks guys i appreciate it, will give it a try ok so i took them all the way down, then torqued them to 8, went to pull the clutch lever and DAM that thing is hard to pull in and the pressure plate barely moves out, is this normal for the clutch lever to be near impossible to pull in? mxwild74 Posted March 29, 2010 Author Report Posted March 29, 2010 ARE THEY OEM SPRINGS OR HD SPRINGS? pressure plate really shouldnt come out alot most half inch i think ya they are HD springs, but dam i can hardly pull the clutch-never had any clutch this hard to pull.... Quote
bansheesandrider Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 I know the pressure plate moves very little- definitely less than a 1/4 inch and probably more like a 1/8 inch. I run 3 stock springs and 3 HD springs in mine so it is not so hard to pull. Try putting 3 stockers in alternating between stock and heavy duty and see if it is better. Or, if you need to you can do 4 HD and 2 stock, just put then opposit each other. Quote
firebanshee Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 ya they are HD springs, but dam i can hardly pull the clutch-never had any clutch this hard to pull.... Try a new clutch cable also, a new cable will make a BIG difference. Quote
SD1026 Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 Lube up the cable and swap out 3 hd springs with oem. I have been meaning to swap out 3 hd springs but I just haven't got around to it. But hd spring a real tuff. Quote
papa_smurf49319 Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 6 hd springs is no prob for me to pull, but i also have a new cable. Quote
