SLOPOKE21 Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 I just got my override installed today and I went to test it out and I took off and shirfted to third then stopped and went to neutral. I then took off again ang got on it a lil bit because it was still warming up and I hit 3rd and it locked up the rear tires and I can't get it back into neutral. My kicker acts like the engin is seized and the bike doesn't move when the clutch is disengaged but I pull it in and I can start the bike but it still won't go into neutral. Are the cases gonna have to be split to fix this or is it something small? Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 what kind of override is it? so the kicker wont move and the shifter is stuck as well? have you tried pulling the clutch in and seeing if it will start? Quote
bbcmudtruck Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 Sounds exactly like what happend to Spurdys new override. His locked up on the first ride and ended up being a broken gear. Quote
SLOPOKE21 Posted March 20, 2010 Author Report Posted March 20, 2010 Its a 2-5 and yes I can get it to start when I pull the clutch in. The shifter will move up but it will not go into neutral. I only went about 500 yards before this happened and it happened from secon to third and I wasn't even on it hard when I shifted and it almost threw me over the handlebars when it locked up Quote
dajogejr Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 I'd be willing to bet you put the forks in the wrong groove upon installation...if something does't end up being broken, as said. Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 where did the transmission come from? who cut it? Quote
SLOPOKE21 Posted March 20, 2010 Author Report Posted March 20, 2010 Rub dubs racing. This is my first time riding an override. I wasn't on the throttle to hard when I went to shit just a quick lil rip of the throttle and I might have let off before pullin the clutch in but not sure Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 did you start out in first and run up through the gears? either way, youre going to have to tear the motor back apart. Quote
dajogejr Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 Even if it's a brand new override (non-dunable) you should be able to backload it a couple times without breaking anything, they're NOT that temperamental...or they shouldn't be. Quote
SLOPOKE21 Posted March 20, 2010 Author Report Posted March 20, 2010 Ok the backloading thing was my next question. So I went to second and I might have let off for a couple second maybe and that's when it locked up. So I can't backload a full override at all or should it have been fine? I only went about 500 yards at the most. Quote
dajogejr Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 IMO...that shouldn't have done it. However...anything is possible. You normally can get away with backloading a standard override a couple times, but if you pull it part (which, you have no choice) and a fork is bent or broke...then yep, backloading killed it. Should've gone with a dunable... Quote
SLOPOKE21 Posted March 20, 2010 Author Report Posted March 20, 2010 Hey thanks for all the help. I just need to realize that its not a duneable and that I'm building a drag bike is what my problem is I think. This is my first banshee build and I still got a lot to learn. Again thanks for the help. Quote
dajogejr Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 I have a dunable in my drag bike for that very reason....forgiveness. Quote
SLOPOKE21 Posted March 20, 2010 Author Report Posted March 20, 2010 Yeah I think I'm gonna have to switch cuz I think the full is a little to much for me right now and how I want to ride it. Its my only bike and I'm gonna need to be able to ride it around some and so my girl can still ride it. Quote
