Just got myself some AC Racing Race Black-Line Pro Pegs and tried to fit them tonight. All gone pretty smoothly except the nerf bar tube where it passes through the frame is touching the bolts head for the bottom engine mounts where they attach to frame. Infact I cant get the nerf bars through the frame 'cos the bolt heads are in the way.

I plan to go to the hardware store and see if I can replace the engine mount bolts with some that have a shorter head on them.

Anyone else run into this problem and fiind a fix. If new bolts with a shorter head on them is the only option what would i need size/strenght wise?

Hi, thanks for the replies.I treid again tonight but same problem. I took a couple of pics and you can see where the head of the bolt for the bottom engine mount is in the way and stopping the nerf slide together in the frame.

they are just aluminum. bend them sum bitches.. tweak them until they fit. do you already have them mounted at the foot peg mount? might try mounting the front first and then the foot peg mount.

Im getting there.. just found that one of the engine mount bolts that need to be replaced with a longer bolt for the nerfs to attach is seized. Gonna take it to a shop and get it drilled out. Tried it myself but my cheapo drillbits didnt even leave a mark. Hopefully by Saturday ill have these things fitted!

I had the same problem with mine... All I remember is the guy who I bought them from on E-baY saying was,,"Ya,, just go get some bolts from the hardware store"!

6 hours.. numerous trips to the custom bolt shop and finally borrowing a tap set from a friend,,got em in.. You have to put the front on first.. and pull the back together by putting a screwdrive r in the footpeg hole.{ you need 2 people} makes a lot easier...I'll look at it tomorrow to get a better Idea..Oh ya .. good luck on trying to get any help from AC. tech- support..All-CRAP..they work and look great once thier on though! mines an 02

My family friend put some of those nerfs on my z400 and I put some on my banshee. On my z400 he had to use a breaker bar or digging bar to bend them into the right spot. With my banshee I just had my dad help me pull the longer side until it fit. Sucks your having that trouble but these pegs seem to be the hardest to install and there the most expensive :shootself:

i've had them on a yfz and banshee, both times had to bend them to get them to fit right, just bend the front of them, wont be a big deal

Thanks guys.Got the bike back from the shop. They drilled out the broken bolt and put the nerfs on for me. I can see the nerf is hard up against the engine mount bolt but it should be ok i guess. I imagine the just put everything on loose and tightened it up all around and pulled everything into place.

Glad to have them on though, they look good and much better heel protection than my old ones.

when i bought my black-lines they were a pain in the ass to mount. i ended up having to bend one of the foot peg mounts because it was worped. when i had the peg bolt screwed in as far as it could go there was a gap between the peg and the frame. when i bent it back to close the gap i was able to fit the nerfs on without much problems. they came pretty close to rubbing on the motor mounts but cleared enough to not have to bend the front bar.
