No I'm not cutting the ears off I You cant remove the air box lid because it holds the stock air filter in place but you can take the snorkel off.(should check jetting after that)The cheapest mod you can do with noticeable power gain is an adjustable timing plate set at +4 deg. which is about $35 and $10 for the flywheel puller. GrMeyer Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 1. Drill four holes in the corners of the air cleaner adapter. Bolt it to the air box. Take the lid off and rejet the bike. Big mod there. 2. You can cut the stock timing plate to run down to about +4 deg, some people can get +5 out of them. So then all you would need is a flywheel puller. 3. Cutting the stock reed cages. All this stuff is on the forum. So use the search button! Big friend there! Also read up on this. http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/jetfaq.html Quote
esterelbanshee Posted February 26, 2010 Author Report Posted February 26, 2010 I guess going up three jet sizes is about right for the airbox lid removal setup? Has anyone experienced negative handling issues when flipping the rear wheels only? I'm on snow and ice now so its not really evident but are there issues in sand. It seems a little more stable in the trails like this especially in off camber rutted turns Quote

firebanshee Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 If you flip your rear wheels around it moves them closer together so you get better traction. Makes bike less stable on turn and side hills. Quote
boneyardbanshee. Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Way back when I first got my Banshee and before I knew of this site I flipped my rears. It will put them about even with the front and will help stability. However you may also notice one of the rear wheels lifting when you corner hard. For good handling ideally your fronts should be wider than your rears. I find with stock suspension the Banshee is very unstable. Especially when you ride it hard. Flipping the rims is a good idea and wont take away enough handling to outweigh the stability you will gain. Quote
GrMeyer Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 In order to get u a good jetting. We would need u to list the mods, elevation and temps Quote
esterelbanshee Posted February 26, 2010 Author Report Posted February 26, 2010 I'm in Canada. Elevation 1250ft above sea level. It has been a very mild winter here. The bike is new and TOTALLY STOCK. I currently have 230 jets in it. It has been around -5 celcius or about 25 Fahrenheit. TO do the airbox i would need 260 jets? I would have flipped the fronts too but the valves will get torn on the brake caliper so not till i can redo the valves. Quote
GrMeyer Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Well your not only going to need just 260 mains. Your prob have to get everyone from 250-310 with a 27.5 pilot. Being able to jet the motor is one main key in banshee for longevity. Quote
Building my First Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 They make valve stem hole plugs, so if you feel like flipping the fronts. Just plug the stock hole and install new stems on the other side. Quote
