BansheeTeD Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 new to banshees.....filled up my tank at the gas station on my 05 banshee and added a quart of oil into it which is 32 ouces and filled up with 2.8 gallons. I kno the best ratio is 20 to1 ratio which is the 32 ounces of oil to 5 gallons of gas. Is it safe to ride out this tank that way or have to get it fixed? thanks Quote

00sheerzr Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 i would dump it and use the right ratio and good quality oil, mix up at batch of 32:1 or 40:1 32:1 is 4 oz for every gallon make sure to use good oil tho or your asking for trouble Quote
shawn941 Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 so i put about double the amount of oil needed basicly thats way too much oil chief,,,just drain the tank and start over man. and 20:1 is not the best ratio to run,,,its what you are reading from the yamaha manual i suspect. run a good high quality oil 32:1 or even 40:1(which is what i run). BansheeTeD Posted February 21, 2010 Author Report Posted February 21, 2010 how can i drain out my gas tank? and my friend wit a banshee told me if im not gonna ride for a while after i stop to put the lever on the gas thing to off and let the gas run out till the bike shuts off to take the gas out the carburator, is that good to do? thanks again guys Quote
bbcmudtruck Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 Haha. Take the hose loose where the "gas turn off thingy" is and let the gas drain out into a bucket. Quote
Building my First Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 Jesus man, you mixed the fuel @ a 11.2:1 ratio? I'm surprised the smokey mutha fucker even ran after that. Forgive me if I'm too forward. How do you drain the gas and do you need to put it on reserve if the tank is full, what kind of questions are those? Your new to Banshee's?? Sounds like your new to anything with an engine. IMO you should just sell the Banshee to someone with enough mechanical aptitude to know what reserve means or to figure out how to drain the fuel while you are still ahead before you blow the fucker up. You should be able to buy a bad ass bike and all the spandex and that gay ass helmet, then join the Tour de France. Quote
WINDYCITYJOHN400 Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 Ignore him...he's never had to learn a thing. He was born with all the knowledge he'll ever have. Asking questions will help prevent you from learning the lessons the hard way. It's better than you blowing up a motor and having to ask some questions that are WAY above your pay grade this early in your learning curve. Start by getting a CLYMERS manual for your banshee. Read everything posted as a "sticky" at the top of each thread. Listen close to advice from guys who have bikes like yours. Don't let an EGO get in the way of an answer. There are plenty of videos on youtube of guys who were going full tilt, riding way above their ability, and learning a hard lesson. Quote
Building my First Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 I ask questions all the time. I'm a very inquisitive person. I like to know the exact science of any given process. Common Sense is something that usually can not be taught, unfortunately. What we have here is a lack of common sense. Don't take it too personally, I'm just in one of those moods tonight. Quote

Larry's Shee Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 The ONLY Stupid question is one that is never asked !! Unfortunatly not all of us were born with all the knowledge in the world (me included) , especially when it comes to Banshees."First" is only looking for another good deal on a shee (lol) . Get a gas can and a "Ratio Rite" ( it's a measuring cup of sorts) , Decide what ratio you want and stick to it. X-2 on Clymers manual, it's invaluable for working on your 'shee. BTW , my '72 Elsinore 250 had a recomended mix ratio of 16:1. Bought it new, yeah, I'm that old. Quote

Building my First Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 What a bunch of whinny fags. Banshee's all my life, huh. Did you notice my user name ore my join date? Two years, that's not a lot of experience in my book. Like I said common sense, if you don't have enough to figure out how to drain the fuel out of a Banshee fuel tank then I bet this isn't the first time you've encountered someone like me. I just don't have time for retards or people that should have been locked in the disappointments room. Reminds me of my old boss, fucking stupid, he should thank god everyday his daddy had a well established business to just hand over to him. Number one, do a search before you go clicking the post button. I managed to find the HQ welcome video, what a classic. http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/1867151/ Quote
