broncbob
Have you checked the air filters? Have you done a compression check?

I would really appreciate some help, thanks. well first off,,,,,are you pulling the choke out before you start it? if not,,,turn fuel on,,,pull out choke,,,,and kick it. if it takes alot of kicks to start it you need to do a compression check,,you probably need a new top end. if its anything less than 105 psi you need to do your top end

TwistedSheeRida
Well if your pulling the choke, the key, killswitch, and if you have a tether and are all in the on position and its not starting then your prob looking at a new top end. Go get yourself a compression tester and see where its at. Throttle wide open and kick it over till the tester stops going up. 3-5 kicks. what year is the banshee and do you know if has ever been torn down? even if the guy said it just had a new top end i never believe that. bbcmudtruck
I wouldn't assume the top end is smoked just yet. First thing to do is to clean your carbs. Pull them apart and clean the jets out really good. I run a guitar wire through them and then blow them out with compressed air. Once you have cleaned your pilot and main jets out, put them back in and then set your air screws. There is one one each carb. Screw them all the way in and then back them out 1.5 turns. Report back and give updates. Its hard to diagnose things over a computer but the more you communicate with us, the easier it is to help! Welcome to the HQ! aaron119982
when i pull out the choke it doesnt stay out, it just goes back in. my air filter is ruined so when i get a new one will it start normally? How much is a new top end?
locogato11283
its a little early to assume the top end is no good. first you need to get your new air filter. then you need to pull the carbs and clean out the pilot and main jets. in most cases, the problem lies in the carb jets not being clean. jon321
Why not try and a compression start it by coasting down a hill or having someone push you, then popped it inoto 2nd gear and see if it starts that way, i use to do it that way with my dirt bike. jbooker82
A banshee that is properly jetted, and has a good top end should fire right up. If you have to pull starter it then you have problems. If you ignore these problems it will just cost you more money down the road.
AKheathen
well, while you are in there and have the bowls of, check to see which bowl is which. the bowl that goes on the choke carb has a small jet, similar to the pilot jet in the pic below....if you mix it up, you will have the same problem you have now...... now, the proper way, and the only way the choke can actually work, is to not touch the throttle, just pull the choke out and kick it over. properly tuned, should only be 1-3 kicks, mabey 4 sometimes.
