I just changed my mixture from 32:1 to 40:1 because I am trying to tune the bike up and the plugs were pretty oily when I would check them. It doesn't smoke nearly like it had been and plugs are not oily like they had been. Any problem with doing so?

This is just my opinion here so take it or leave it. I have been running 2 strokes since back in the 80's. This will be my first with v-twin but in any suzuki or Honda 2stroke I ever ran or tore apart for someone you could tell if it was run at 32:1 or 40:1 or even leaner. The more oil the better the shape the engine was in. I wouldn't run any richer than 32:1... Gums stuff up fouls plugs. I would try running hotter plug first and if that don't fix it drop a jet.

If your banshee is a V-twin.. You better post up some pics cuz thats one of a kind!

If your plugs are oily and wet.. thats rich jetting not your fuel/oil mixture. No reason to lean it back.. You wont gain power and the more oil you got in the motor the better. I run my drag bikes @ 20:1. Motor is clean and I put a full season on a set of plugs. Jetting is everything.

Wtf is the banshee engine if not a v-twin? In yamaha's own description it says v-twin. That is why I don't belong to these forums because you get some smart ass that knows everything I was just giving advice. I didn't want to be made fun of.

I've never seen yamaha call it a V-twin.. Cuz it simply isn't.. Its a parallel twin or Inline twin. In a V-twin configuration the pistons move away from each other.. Just like a V8? or V6? The pistons in a banshee share the same plane... so.. .Its not a V. Any mechanic would know this. Sorry for being a smart ass.. it is what it is.

First off more oil is not a richer condition infact more oil is a leaner condition this is a common misconception. If you add more oil you are displacing the fuel in the air/fuel ratio where lies the rich lean conditions that you speak off. So technically more oil is actually leaning the motor out a bit. You want to keep in mind that a 2 stroke motor is not splash oil lubricated motor or does it have any lubrication other than what you put in your fuel so oil is a GOOD thing not bad. I get 2-3 people a day say its smoking alot so it needs to be rebuilt... WRONG... a 4 stroke smokes when the rings wear and lets oil get past them and gets burnt, burnt oil creates smoke. A 2 stroke has no oil in it anywhere but what you put in the fuel so start worrying when it quits smoking. IMO at least a 32:1 mixture on gas and a 24:1 on alky is necessary to let the motor live. I run my alky motors at 20:1 thats a full quart in 5 gallons. Calvin at cp done a test on several different dynos to prove something to the dyno owners (builders) which we have not done on mine yet but we will eventually. The test that he done was testing a motor at mixtures from 50:1 all the way to like 10:1 and everytime more oil made more power. Now with that said oil does not burn as well as fuel so there is a point where the bike gets too hard to clean out or burn the oil off the plug if you will. He tells me that the bikes at 10:1 smoked like a freight train. We havent done this on my dyno yet but we soon will. But with all that aside just do your motor a favor and give it some lubrication!

I want to say sorry to everyone! I have been out of the 2-stroke engines for awhile. I thought i knew alot about them but i have been doing alot of reasearch and catching up. I even went to the local yammy dealer and he called my shee a v-twin. I learned on early machines and only had one pv motor before i got out of building and racing. I was the ass and i am sorry!

ive been running klotz at 40:1 for years now. i have never had an issue due directly to fuel/oil mixture.

ive run that combo in 4mm stock cylinder motors, 4mm cubs and my 10mm cub now.

I just traded for an 01 shee and as i posted above i am brand new at the twin cylinder. i only owned one pinger with a power valve. I always ran everything at 32:1 and used klotz benol. I have been reading for days and talking to lube companies. I know blendzall is out ,hell it was gummy in a straight pinger engine. I have looked at benol as well and that is what the guy ran in it that i traded off of. i dont like the goop out the silencers. I want to know if anyone has ran the new bel-ray bio-bel h1r? I have talked and read about hundreds of people running 50:1 and even one running his shee at 80:1. how well does the new ester based oils work at such lean mixxes? thanks and i am very full from the big ass crow dinner i ate.

Exactly what jim at passion said, more oil more power. He said castor nine two seven at thirty two to one is what he runs in all his bikes, thats what ive ran for awhile and never had any problems. Sorry about spelling numbers out the damn cat spilt some pop on the keyboard and now my numbers dont work lol.

I run Bel-Ray MC1 at 50:1. It's kind of pricey, but I have no issues running it at 50:1 with 91octane. I have a buddy who's pushing 350lbs, and he runs MC1 at 50:1 and has been for well over 4 years on the same motor. One of the small bottles is exactly what you need for 50:1 in 5 gallons. That's kinda why I use it more than anything, it's convenient, no getting out a ratio-rite and having to clean it every time. I was thinking about dropping to 40:1 during the summer time. It gets well over 100 at Glamis. =)
