Velislide Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 These are the used cylinders I got with my banshee, they are .030 currently, and going to be bored to .050 to match my new wiseco prolite pistons. No clue who did the porting on these, I dont plan on racing mx or anything like that, just some trail riding, probably do dirt drags against other quads, bikes, etc, and just screw around town with it. 87sheerips Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 No clue... make sure to put your coolant jacket plugs back in before you install them!! Just get them machined for what you need, slap em on and run. If it rips, then awesome Quote
Velislide Posted November 5, 2009 Author Report Posted November 5, 2009 Just found out the cylinders were ported in Miami.... if that helps! Quote
locogato11283 Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 stage 9 - south beach style? Quote
Velislide Posted November 6, 2009 Author Report Posted November 6, 2009 Lets say they are that south beach style, think I would like that better then stockers, non ported? I do like top end power, mid range too, dont care about low end... its a 2stroke! haha Quote
Snopczynski Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 Wow, the same picture over and over at different angles. That ought to tell us right away what type of porting that is. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 Your not going to be able to tell what type of porting just by picts. You need to have specific measurement to determine the type of port work. And one builders play port could be anothers dune port. There is no one single standard. Quote
DallasGDub Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 Measure from the deck to the top of the intake and exhaust ports. Then do the same for the bottom of the ports. Post the #’s and I think more people will be able to help you. Fact is no one really knows anything from a picture. Also hard to say (who) did it, but may be able to at least tell you what kind of port it is. Quote

Well the cylinders are finally getting bored today, after that I'm probably just goona slap them onto the lowerend and just run with what I got, not like I can really do anything about it if I dont like it, besides buy new cylinders. Say they are ported for dune riding, or like a dune drag port or whatever, how would that perform as far as long straight trails, and stuff like that? As long as it makes power in the mid-high range, I'll be happy. If i wanted low end power, I would have gone with a 4stroke or something, haha. Not very often when I'm on dirtbikes am I just feather the throttle or keeping the rpms low, its either pinned or im coasting, lol. Thanks for the help, this is turning out to be quite the project lol, never done anything like this before, gotta start somewhere I guess. Edited November 6, 2009 by Velislide Quote
Snopczynski Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 Have you had them checked out to see if they are stroker cylinders, or stock stroke cylinders? You can measure the ports, and that will tell you where the power is going to be by calculating the durations. Quote
STREETSWEEPAZ Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 He bought the quad from me .... I have No idea who did the cylinders myself ... All i know is that They are done by someone in Miami / pensecola area or something..... I paid a good chunk of change for them & They are supposed to be 64.5 mm / .20 over is what i was told............ A stock cylinder was selling for $100 or more & I picked these both up for a little under $400 - I sold the whole quad for $500 so,, IDK....... Whats fucked up is -- You can go thru all my posts on here & I have always thought that things were a certain way or were checked out to be good ........ My local shop up here has a bunch of dill weeds working there & I paid them money to overlook things & tell me whats wrong..... I was lied to & I really do feel like making this one guy in particular there Drink The metal shavings that came out of the case in his coffee -- I paid to have everything cleaned up & Inspected........ OOOOOOH,,, Im heated .......... Quote
Snopczynski Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 (edited) ok, Like I said, do you know if they are actually going to work for your motor? Where they set up for it? If a shop looked at them, then why are you posting pictures of them on here? Instead of wasting all the time to install them, and run them. Why dont you measure the ports and determine where the power will be. Port work and engine work, all has to be fine tuned when you put a motor together. It is not something where you just buy the stuff and slap it on. Port work has to be matched to pipes, squish set, compression set, carbs matched, etc.....
