I am putting my banshee back together and I was wondeing if it was ok if i used silicone on the cylinder and headgasket on it. I got the gray silicone thats made for cycles at the moto shop?

gasket sticky is ok but not silicone silicone will let the gasket float around and it will push out when u tork the studs and blow out when u run it for a while

as a general rule use the gasket or the silicone not both for cyl.heads always use the gaskets

just make sure to tork the bolts to speck in the manual specified pattern and youl be fine

If you are using OEM style gaskets with the silicone beads printed on them, install them dry and retorque when hot. If you are using a steel shim type head gasket, the only thing you should use is copper coat or silver spray paint, but the black coating that comes on stock gasket does the same thing.

I use RTV on everything, reed cage gaskets, base gaskets, head O rings....(that being said, I can't tell you the last time I used a stock style head with a flat head gasket).

Years ago I had an issue with leaking coolant, air leaks...etc. No more.

I put a really thin coat of threebond on the base gaskets and reed gaskets. Cant tell you what to do on a stock head gasket, i havent used one since ive owned a banshee.
