dxb banshee Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 (edited) Hey guys, my banshee seems to be running like rubbish, 6 months ago it had new reeds put in and was tuned, it hasn't been run since due to the heat out here. so I started it today because I wanted to go out on it tomorrow, I discover it wont idle, in the low revs it bogs and when I change gear it bogs for 1 to 2 seconds and then picks up. I had a play with the air screw and idle screws but they don't seem to be helping. Here is a video, what do you guys think the problem is? cheers. Edited September 19, 2009 by dxb banshee Quote
black sunshine Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 Welcome to the HQ! Good job posting a video to help diagnose your problem. The audio is not the best, so it is hard to hear what you have going on. You should start by dumping that old fuel and cleaning out the carbs, could be plugged pilots. Do you still have the TORS? Make sure the tube connecting the carbs is in place. What is your jetting and what elevation are you at? Quote
2/2 many banshees Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 Are both sides firing? Hard to tell by the video. Quote
shee4speed Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 I agree, run fresh fuel. Are you letting her warm up? Is that a cold motor? Quote
dxb banshee Posted September 19, 2009 Author Report Posted September 19, 2009 (edited) fresh fuel was in The engine is worm at this point (trying to get it to idle for 10 mins), the left cylinder is misfiring and popping when under power, also the exhaust gasses on the left cylinder aren't hot where as the exhaust gasses on the right cylinder are unless its at around half revs. The reeds where replaced because a hole was burnt through one of them, ever since this it has been running like s**t. I think I'll take it to my local mechanic and get him to rebuild the carbs and tune it up for me, what do you guys think? Thanks for the quick replies. Edited September 19, 2009 by dxb banshee Quote

I was having the same problem with mine, weak to no spark, cold exhaust, and a bog just like in your video. It sounds like it's not firing on the one cylinder, check the coil. I swapped my coil out with a buddies and it fixed the problem. Quote
banshee_terror_ Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 idk try new plugs it cant hurt. and clean out the pilots... you dont have tores so check the tube that connects both carbs. and if you can do it compresion test it. but welcome 2 the hq. Quote
pr0blumz Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 Fresh fuel and clean the carbs. Quote
