Hello All,

I am new to Banshee's and this forum, but hopefully someone here can guide me in the right direction? Recently i acquired a 2000 Banshee from a friend, at first it was running with a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust. Ran it for a couple days and slowly it started having issues with bogging down when giving it full throttle. Eventually it stalled out on me and ever since I have been unable to get it to start. I know, I probably should have had a tune up and service before riding, but i just couldn't leave it be, now I am hoping permanent damage has been done. Any ideas on where I should start, I may not be an expert, but I can find my way around if just pointed in the right direction. I pulled the carbs out and looked at them, and everything seems to be clean and in working order, only thing on the carbs I didn't look at was the needle since I could not figure out how to remove the floats and did not wnnt to damage anything trying to do so. So, any ideas on what may be a common solution/problem or did I do permanent damage? Thanks for any help in advance.

well, i replaced the plugs, got spark, seem to have decent compression, i have a sneaky suspicion it has something to do with the carb or throttle. it has an aftermarket twist throttle and it seems to be a bit sticky...gotta be a way i can eliminate that as an issue without going out and replacing it, i know from experience just going out and replacing what "I" think is the problem can tend to get pricy real quick.

Mix gas on the manufacture recommended 20:1.

Also, just did a compression test and both sides are 120psi, this good or bad?

120 is good. 20:1 is crazy fat on fuel. drain that out. What type of oil are you using. Atleast mix it 32:1 if not 40:1

Ok, so need to add more oil to my premix...check.

Got good compression...check.

Got spark and new plugs...check.

So, starting to aim my finger at the carb...i have been reading that the jets need to be tuned to the exhaust? Am I reading correctly? If so, I have T5 exhaust live roughly couple hundred feet above sea level what jet size should i be using? Would the wrong jet size cause it not to start? Feel free to tell me I am an idiot...I can take a little constructive criticism once in awhile.

did it have the pipes on when you got it from your buddy or did you recently just put them on? what kinda oil are you mixing with your gas?

The pipes were already on and it had a 290 jet on it, I believe all these were installed by another friend so I am not sure as to how well the matching and tuning of the pipe and jets was?

I was running 20:1 on the premix, but it sounds like I definitely need to step it up to at least a 32:1.
