chain question

Yesterday my chain snapped!!! I went on ebay and found one that said 8200lb. tensile strenght. What is this? Im assuming that 8200lb. is good. Most i have seen on dennis kirk are 6800. Can someone let me know what a good strenght chain is?

i belive that tensile strenth is how mutch load you can feesebly put on the chain before you damage it.

 

i.e. stetch wayy to fast and soon,.. or break it

Get yourself a brand name O-ring or X-ring chain like DID or RK. The non o-ring type stretch too fast which causes the chain to snap and eats your sprockets as well.

 

Also check what your sprockets look like. No point putting a new chain on worn sprockets.

RK GB520EXW chain. Gold plated, it is rated at 8500. It has better sealing o rings than the the x ring chains.

Dont get a cheap 5-10 dollar front sprocket ethier. Get one of these.

Then I would get a Primary Drive rear sprocket. The rear isnt near as important as the front. The front sprocket takes the abuse. You need to replace the chain and sprockets as a set, or the bad componets will wear the new ones out. Stick with a steel rear an aluminum one will wear out fast on an atv.

Ok. Thanks to all that replied to my question. I appreciate the advice.

My rear sprocket is kinda getting worn down. Teeth look smaller than they should.

I have a vito's 15T for the front in the mail as we speak.

Lucky for me the chain didn't slap the case. So no cracks or leaks.
