Time for new topend...

So Sat. came around and went to try and start the shee and wouldnt start. So after taken everything apart and checking all electrical still nothing. So the only left was to see inside the engine. Took the head off and the top of the pistons looked ok. I noticed a lot of slop/play in the piston, a lot of movement. So after studing for sometime I noticed a little of the coolant got on top of the piston, so I was moving the piston up and down and could notice air bubbles coming up inbetween the piston and the walls. Cant have compression with air coming through. So time to take it down to father-in-laws and have him bored out. The side walls had no more cross hatches that you could see.Nothing looked like it came off nor big dents or scratches anywhere. Once I find out if it was stock or not I can then order a new topend kit.

I found Vitos Super Stock Piston kit and wanted to know the good and bad about these or anything else out there that anyone can suggest looking into? Vitos claims mid to top rpm power increase 8+ hp.

I know I will have to rejet but does anyone know if I will have to change my fuel/oil ratio? I am runnning Klotz 32:1. Thanks.

Vito's are a bad idea. I ride with a group of 11 Banshees and we all use regular Wiseco pistons. Vito's are Wiseco but the skirt are shorter. I've seen the skirts break over and over. Best way is bore it, wiseco pistons and a vito's base gasket(one full gasket, not two seperate ones). Klotz oils burn dirty. All of us run Castor 927 @ 32:1 with no problems.

That is the most retarded statement I have herd.

Castor oil burns dirty. The same type of oil that is in your Castor 927. Did you ever stop to think that maybe Klotz has different types of oil and not just 1.

Last week I found out that everything was stock and my father-in-law suggested only going .10 over, but he also wanted me to use OEM parts. I just told him not to worry about the parts ans I'll just let him know how much to bore. I called Vitos and tried ordering the Super Stock Piston kit for .20 over, they where out of stock and could take a month'n half to get some more in. But they had the Super Stock kit with the

.40 over bore on sale, so thats what I got plus a jet kit all for the price I was going to spend on just the .20 kit. I ordered the kit last Friday and was on my door step on Monday, very good people to work with. I finally had some time yesterday to start working on putting the shee back together, my buddy and I started at 4:00 and I was doing test rides by 6:30 and thats even including a bath for her.

All I can say is WOW I was impressed. So worth the money, sounds a little meaner also. Now when the power band kicks in you know it. Changed the needle, jumped up one size in the main jet from a 320 to 330's, might have to turn the air srew just a little more. Bottom end is just a little rich but I would rather have it rich during break in then slowly lean it up.

Saving life,ya... but you can resleave it after you go .100 over. Not really to worried. I dont race it, I dont ride it everyday. I mainly ride it around the neighborhood and take it out on the trails like once or twice/month. I hope I get 3years out of it, but thats why I'll just keep an eye on it and come this fall open it back up and take a look inside. Parts are cheap for this toy...way cheaper then the sleds.

I really didnt want to go to the .40 over at first but its only a mm difference. And the walls are a little thinner so I'll just have to remember it could overheat faster now.

Oh and Vitos pistons are from Wiesco, and the piston kit from Wiesco was more $.

so instead of going just 10 over and saving some life on your cylinders you went to 40 over?

Yuo, now i've think i've seen it all. :shoothead:

and +1 on vitos. Their service and customer tech help lines are very nice!
