Misssppelllleddd Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 For most 8 plate clutch systems you need to get the entire kit. The basket, inner hub, and pressure plate. Thats the way it was for my Hinson kit. Quote
lowbuckracing Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 Hit up bada450r here on the hq...He was the inventor and creator of all who knows the "8 Plate"......Tell'm Lowbuck sent you..LOL Quote
BigRed350x Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 What are you running that you need an 8-plate AND a lockup? Why not just run a stock width billet basket and a lockup? Quote
FireHead Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 What are you running that you need an 8-plate AND a lockup? Why not just run a stock width billet basket and a lockup? Word. You need to have a pretty healthy engine (more than 150hp) to overcome the capabilities of an OEM'ish clutch with a lockup. If you didn't want to run a lockup, then an aftermarket 8 or 10 plate system probably makes sense. However, I would still prefer a lockup over these systems due to the fact that it's easier to get ahold of replacement clutch parts. :geek: Quote
nitrocircus Posted May 12, 2009 Author Report Posted May 12, 2009 what about running my boss basket with a stock hub and pressure plate Quote
RagunCajun Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 What are you running that you need an 8-plate AND a lockup? Why not just run a stock width billet basket and a lockup? +1..... Trying to use what you have or what? Quote
nitrocircus Posted May 12, 2009 Author Report Posted May 12, 2009 ya i spent a lot of money on this thing and now i got laid off so got to stop spending now Quote
dajogejr Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 with the boss kit, you need the basket and inner hub, which you have. When you say the pressure plate doesn't fit, have you tried turning it to see if it'll match up? I have to do with stock. Otherwise, contact who you purchased the clutch kit from and/or BOSS Themself and ask for their advice.... Quote
wesw Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 you should be able to run the stock pp or the boss one i ran the hinson one then put my stock one back on when i put a lock up on my 8 disk. like dave said you probably need to time it in the correct groove. Quote
