Shags450 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 How long have you guys been working on your drag banshee? I just feel im not making nearly enough money (30K a year) to make any fast progress on my banshee! at this rate... Im looking for next years tax return before I get a chance to even build my motor X_X. Am I the only slow poke!? Quote
Shags450 Posted April 12, 2009 Author Report Posted April 12, 2009 It just hurt me to spend 700$ on drag axles and carrier and not on performance parts X_X! but I gotta get my needs before wants Quote
dragbanshee98 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 i have been about 3-4 months i would say, i am mostly finished with the bike, i went through everything from new cylinders, new frame, and i have only been able to work on mine on weekends due to me being in college at the moment... but i am very seasoned with how a quad goes together and comes apart so i was able to do everything short of the tranny and cylinders which my father did so the process has gone very well even with the few bumps and snarls i have hit along the way yea i spent $100 on a durablue HD axle brand new, i can not see it at all needed to spend 700-800 on a drag axle Quote

XxMeltIcexX Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 A drag bike is never finished..... thats what im afraid of lol Quote
Handyman Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 From what i understand a drag bike will never be finished... it will require constant tinkering i.e tuning, lighteneing of parts, etc....but that's the fun part... Quote
dragbanshee98 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 That durablue axle weighs ALOT more than a drag axle... yea that is what i heard... but hey for 100 dollars it is above and beyond anything the stocker ever was or will be... i wanted to go full drag axle but bein in college and havin 3 wheelers, a sled and a new truck my budget is kinda tight with the drag shee lol wow sayin that kinda made me realize that i just might have an addiction to toys lol Quote
docjcwatson Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 It has taken me over a year to get it where it is now. P.S. My bike doesn't roll right now. Bahaha. Quote
tidos76 Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 My first ground up build took me over a year. I was only making 32k but was single living eith my parents. granted it wasn't a drag banshee but i built it. it has taken me about 3-4 years for me to get were i'm at now. its actually harder $ wise now and i make $45k but i am married and have a house/carpayment/ect Quote
shanYE west Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 I've been serious about my drag bike for about 4-5yrs now.. and Its never done.. Its always tore down in the winter for upgrades and maintainence. A drag bike and a tight budget are not a good combo.. You'll always end up spending more then what you intended to spend.. If your serious about it then you need to do things right the first time or it'll cost you alot more in the long run. As far as the budget axle.. A blaster axle would have been the better choice. The DB axles are supposedly built stronger.. so they use more material which makes them alot heavier then even a stock axle. Quote
kawiking Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 been buildin my f.a.s.t 4 mil cub since march 08'... got it done last fri... i have about 7 k in it... Quote

Yeh this is why I purchased a drag axle, I wanted to do it right the first time and not have to upgrade in 6 months or anything. I needed a new carrier origionaly and my axle was sorta bent so I said screw it, bought a 40mm carrier and the axles to match! Quote
dirtdragguy Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 The only time that their done is when you sell the thing & start on the next one! IMHO  Quote
