Damnit Bob Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 Ok, been searching for a while now and every thread seems to go on a wild tangent away from the nitty gritty of HOW TO install these items. I know different style pancake bearings have different adjustments, etc.. My setup has a washer, bearing washer, screw and housing. Ill try and get pics up, but my photobucket is jacked right now. It would be fantastic to have a tutorial stuck on this site so all of the questions can end lol... I know someone has to be a pro at all styles of pancake bearings, so please try and help me out. Tryin to get this motor in the chassis today, this is the last thing I have to do! Please discuss procedures and anything beneficial to the install of these items. Thanks guys!! -JD Quote
locogato11283 Posted April 5, 2009 Report Posted April 5, 2009 it will probably take putting it in a couple times and putting the pressure plate on to get it adjusted properly. once in stalled, and with the pressure plate on, you want your clutch arm to line up pretty close to the arrow on the case. it doesnt have to be perfect and can go either towards the stator or away from it. just use it as a baseline to get it close. once you get the pancake where the arm is close, tighten the piss out of that nut. they can and will back off if not tightened enough. then install the pressure plate. next put the lockout on and get a screw with a spring on it started. its best to work your way around the lockout and not tighten one side down all the way. try to do it as evenly as you can as to avoid binding of the springs or stripping of the bolts. Couldn't have said it better myself. But as far as the install, the washer lays flat on the backside of the pressure plate, than the pancake bearing, and then the flat side of the housing down. Quote

Glad you started this topic.... I'm pulling mine apart to adjust it today and also check for a pancake bearing, gonna order one if I don't have it. If you're still workin on it I might just run up & see how it's going together.... Quote
