liveordie72089 Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 Alright took mine out yesterday and well not what anyone really likes to hear or see my Shee finally blew up. I have removed the whole engine from the frame all I have to do now is crack open the block which is really confusing? They open a weird way. Anyways my left exhaust while taking it off had metal flakes all in it. As I checked the piston I noticed that it has messed up the piston pretty bad but the good news is the head is still good. I am going to be rebuilding this up but I have a couple of questions. Beings that I have to get a new piston and their basically the same price I'm going from a .40 bore to a .60 bore. I really hope I notice a huge difference which I am sure I will. I am thinking about going with Wiseco Pistons. Which brings me to my first question. What Piston should I use or is the one I listed a very good one. I usually go with them. The next thing I noticed that the metal flakes were from my crankshaft bearing cylinder on the left which is completely trashed. So now I have to figure out what crank shaft to get I was thinking hot rod but I am not to sure. I believe the one that is in there is stock but will be double checking it tomorrow. Again what do you all suggest? I will be taking some pictures of the bike tomorrow to update on this build up. If anyone needs any help or me to take pictures now is the time to ask and ill be glad to take a shot and try to explain how to remove it for you. Or put it back on if i have already done it you will just need to reverse steps. So if you need anything or just wanna keep watching this thread for the build then let me know. P.S. Also try and answer the questions that I have listed above. It would be much appreciated. Thanks "if you don't wanna read to find questions they were". 1. What piston brand should I use? I was thinking Wiseco but not to sure. 2. What crankshaft would you recommend? I am thinking about the Hot Rod but also not sure. Quote
278 Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 didnt read it but to answer those 2 questions, those are the most popular becaause theyre the best go with those Quote

Wiseco seems to be the best, other than that .. ive seen alot on ebay pistons called "namura" it looks to be a japanese brand.. and they claim +5hp only from the pistons Quote
quikshee Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 and they claim +5hp only from the pistons They are all full of shit Quote
vulvafan537240 Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 i wouldnt jump from 40 to 60 over unless the sleeves were scarred and needed it. you wont gain much performance by doing this and youll limit the number of available rebuilds you have left. take the jugs to a machine shop to mic them. theyll tell you what size bore you need. Quote
sleeper06 Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 Wiseco makes inbetween sizes of 513series(stock stroke)but you can only go in .020 at a time with stroker keep that in mind if your doing a crank, bore size is not a noticable diffrence unless the bike ran like crap from low compression Quote
liveordie72089 Posted March 9, 2009 Author Report Posted March 9, 2009 K thanks a lot. So what size do you think I should go. The piston didn't mess it up really I was just looking to bore it over a little more. Maybe I should go with a .50 over or something. I'm taking pics tonight hopefully Ill be splitting the block so ill be getting some detailed pictures of what it all looks like. Quote

liveordie72089 Posted March 10, 2009 Author Report Posted March 10, 2009 Ok so as promised went and worked on bike so here's some pictures. I also took a quick video also. Its the left side that is bad. As I said its not to bad didn't mess up the walls or anything so just doing a .050 over. Quote
Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 (edited) if it didn't do any damage to the walls I would just hone (glaze break) the cylinders. New wisco pistons, and a new crank. pistons http://farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=77 crank http://farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=78 F.A.S.T. liveordie72089 Posted March 12, 2009 Author Report Posted March 12, 2009 What ya guys think here's the bottom of the case. Nothing is sticking up drastically nor is it anything up really. More or less just scuffed the bottom..... Quote
Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 For the bottom of the case I would take some emery cloth and sand it down. No big deal. Quote
liveordie72089 Posted March 13, 2009 Author Report Posted March 13, 2009 Alright thanks a lot what course should i use? Quote
Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 depending on how deep the scratches are? if they are not bad at all I would use fine. it does not have to be perfect. I would not go over a med grit. It has been too long since I have had to buy emery cloth that I can not remember the numbers. I believe 120 is med and 180 or 200 is fine... Quote
