does any body know what the best way to get rust off of chrome pipes is? i know steel wool works but it also scratches too, any sort of chemical/ wax that will help remove it? Thanks

I use 0000 steel wool and turtle wax chrome polish and alot of time and it doesnt scratch it but it takes a hour or 2 a pipe. I finish it with hollywoods metal polish.

I don't want to jack your thread, but once you have got the rust off what do you use to stop the rust coming back. In spots where it has rusted, the chrome is damaged and the rust tends to come back.

I've been using grey scotch brite pads. Then polishing with Mothers. If you are cheap like me you will just have to keep on them and don't let them get rusty again.

Get u some Eagle One Wadding Polish...... U can get it from autozone, advanced auto etc etc..... Comes in a little tin can, its soft like pillow stuffing so it will not scratch chrome at all but has some chemical on it that removes rust, worked great for me, ive used it for years, it actually helps rust from coming back. good stuff.

The CLR idea seems to be easy as cake. I have a g-force swing arm that needs to be cleaned. Gonna have to use some tips from this thread.

Anyways, I've used 0000 steel wool on my old t5's. Took forever and a day but it does work. you just have to keep at it. I gave up after the outsides that showed were done.
