krss144
Hey guys, I picked up my first quad this winter just after the holidays. I grew up with sleds and my neighbor has the last year for the Banshee, man after riding it all summer I knew right then I had to have one. So I found the deal of the year, 99 Banshee with 2 extra set of tires for under $1200 and yes it starts up first kick. So I am in the process of tearing apart everything and cleaning her up to get ready for this spring and summer. I had already replaced the rear axle (bent) found a used one for $50 and just needs a little TLC. So I guess the main question I have that no one is fully sure of is the brand of pipes that came with this gem??? My album has some more pics of the before process, I just recieved a box of goods from Rocky Mountain (very happy customer) so I will keep up with my progress on getting this monster ready. R. Rollins
Even if you cannot tell who makes the pipes , Just take them off, clean the rust and grime off of them, re-paint them black, and put them back on for now. You will buy better pipes later on I would guess. Worry about getting your general Preventative maintenance done on her first. Chain, Carb cleaning, air filter box cleaning, grease points and a good top to bottom scrubbing and detailing. You will appreciate the Shee alot more afterwards. A clean bike is alot easier to maintain. Welcome to the BansheeHQ and have fun man.

krss144
I am thinking of taking them off to clean but the gasget doesnt leak so I dont want to have to get news (hard to find) if I dont have to yet. Trust me my toys dont look like this even when they are dirty...lol its only been 30 here once sinse I have owned her so waiting for that first 35 degree day to powerwash everything. I already had the entire front end off and replaced all bearings and put new pads back on. Just need to bleed the front brakes. Ordered two stock rear hubs from MotorCity ATV yesterday and a whole rear brake caliper. The rear caliper that is on it someone rigged it up to get it to work but I am not trusting a stripped out bolt with wire wrapped around it to hold the pads together. Fun project, amazing how easy and cheap parts are. So once the snowmobile season is over it will be time to get muddy again. I do notice that a lot or majority of people love the Banshee on the dunes...does anyone really trail ride. Thats the type of machine I will be building here. I live in West MI and mainly trails around here. There is a place called Silver Lake that is about 30 min. from here to play in the sand. So the only thing left is I am thinking of getting a set of ITP Holeshot tires 20x11x9 HD's...anyone know anything good or bad about these? krss144
They have no name on them what so ever, and I noticed last night that they are really thin. SO new question...I had the front brakes apart all winter and put new pads on, so all the brake fluid was out. I put the entire front end together and trying to bleed the front brakes and having a hell of a time. The book says to fill it with the fluid, use a tube or hose to bleed out the brakes one sqeeze at a time. With the other end in the bottle of fluid. It should start to fill the hoses with fluid which it did on the right hand side and I could see little air bubbles coming out, so I go over to the left side and nothing. No fluid coming out, no air bubbles nothing. Yet I open up the right and fluid comes out. So the brake lever has all play in it. So last night I opened both sides just a little to let gravity do it job and see what happens tonight. Is there anything I am missing, when I picked up the bike the front brakes worked fine, now I feel that something might be blocking the lines or something but nothing could have gotten in there...I am at a total loss???? T_Shee
bleeding front brakes is a bitch when you let the lines run dry. either keep bleeding until your hand falls off (thats what i did and it finally worked) or borrow a mighty vac or something that will pull vacuum on the system to help the fluid work its way down. you may get lucky with the gravity feed tho
