TJScott Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 With the stock head, does a banshee have any overheating problems? Quote
jamebo Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 I can't recall ever having a heating issue when I was running the stock head. But my motor is not heavily modded either, though. Also, I usually ride mine in fast, open places where there is a lot of air going through the radiator. I don't know how it would do in tight trails. I run a Noss head now. Quote
Washburn Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 no major problems if your just casualy riding but it can overheat alot quicker than if you have a coolhead/Billit impeller installed and your going through tight/technical/dirty/muddy shit or riding it for extended periods of time. I also have a Nosshead and it is noticeably cooler over stock. Quote
fab shop racing Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 I have had banshees from th begining i have never had a problem with overheating on stock head. Quote
boneyardbanshee. Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Overheated once and it was my fault. It was a long ride and I was sitting at idle for a while while waiting for another rider to get unstuck. I shut it off, let it cool, and even with a mud caked radiator in tight woods, did not over heat again. I did have the top hose blow a pin hole in it once damn that was hot. Quote
TJScott Posted February 18, 2009 Author Report Posted February 18, 2009 thanks guys, i was in an arguement with this guy and his arguements didnt seem even remotely correct, but mine doesnt run yet so i couldnt say anything... http://www.mototips.com/gallery/30868-most...e-mototips.html Quote
poorboystoys Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 i didnt think that the banshee weighed less than the new yfz???? Quote
Keyser Soze Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Had a cool head, ditched it and went to a stocker. NO difference with my CRJ temp gauge. I do have a billet impeller. Quote
spurdy Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Had a cool head, ditched it and went to a stocker. NO difference with my CRJ temp gauge. I do have a billet impeller. Generally an overheating issue is related to something else not right, coolant flow, jetting etc. The stock cooling system works well if everything else is right. Not so sure I believe the aftermarket heads help cooling that much. But all things considered, a little insurance (oversized radiator, engine ice, billet impeller) is worth the money if you have a mint in a motor. SP Quote
lokisbuddy Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 And for the record man, a boost bottle will not improve performance on the shee, and did you guys note that they only showed vids of the banshee being spanked by dirt bikes and its predecessor? LQTMS Quote
screamin_banshee_2003 Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 it will over heat if u drive it hard or jet it towards lean. U would here the coolant under the seat and in the radiator fuzzing. I felt the diffrence when changing from a stock 2 a cool head Quote
