Anybody seen one of these "stealth lock up" around? It uses ball bearings for the centrifugal pressure applied as the RPM rises. They claim that at any RPM you can pull the clutch in. Also, I've been seeing these 8 plate clutch kits on ebay. I talked to a guy about the 8 plate inner hub. He told me that an 8 plate clutch will work with a Hinson clutch basket and the 8 plate inner hub. Let me know what everybody thinks.

The lockup that your talking about is the slingshot, and the 8 plate well thats just a whole nother game your stepping up too!!!

So what's the deal on the 8 plate? Does it work worth a sh!t? I'm just trying to make a clutch last in my cub. I don't wanna go with the override, not yet anyway. And from what I've read the lockup is a waste if you don't have the override. There's a company here in Wichita that sells a 10 disk kit but its like $800. Is the whole 8 plate thing some bullshit sale gimick? If I remember right the stock clutch is a 6 disk. Is it truely two more steels and two more fibers?

Back to my original question, will the 8 plate hub and clutch set work with an after market basket. I've been told it will and then I see an 8 plate basket for sale. WTF?

anything with high horse power needs an 8 plate specially when drag racing.......i would say only tripples and the new spread bore cylinders need a 10 plate...imo.....also remember i think all the newer bikes have an 8 plate like yfz and ltrs...hope that helps

Once you break into the 150hp + higher torque numbers at the rear wheels in a drag race application, then you need to be looking at 10 plate clutch. :geek:

What do you consider high HP? I run 7 plate with DD style locker in my drag banshee with no problems. my 450 is a 7plate also.

The sling shots seem to be doing a good job at holding some pretty big HP motors with the stock 7 plate setup. I might do a 8-plate on my DM just to be safe, but I'll start season with my 7-plate

I think the 7-plates are fine up to 125ish for hp.. then a 8-plate would be good insurance.

Just my opinion ofcourse..

Hey guys, I just bought a Driveline Stealth Lock Up, a Mattoon Extreme Heavy Duty 8 Plate Billet Clutch Basket, and a Driveline, and a Drive Extreme 8 Plate Clutch Kit to go with my new Serval set up that I had Jeff at F.A.S.T. put together for me for XC Racing. I have a question for you guys, is it possible to modify the Stock Banshee Inner Hub to adapt it over to a 8 Plate Hub? There comes a time with all things when enough is enough and I'm there. If I had to guess I'd say I have close to $15,000 invested in my Banshee. I made a Promise to me and my Wife when I bought the Serval Set Up that I wouldn't sink any more money into the Banshee........ Then I got the Serval broke in and tuned by Withrow Power Sports and took to to our test course and rapped the clutch components. So I listed a bunch of my unused Banshee Parts on eBay and got enough money to buy the Clutch Components I listed. Pretty much all I lack is the 8 Plate Hub, If you cant mod it to fit 8 Plates do you guys know of some other company that makes them other than Hinson? Or even better do any of you have a used 8 Plate Hub that your wanting to get rid of for a decent price?

I looked at the Slingshot Lock Up and it was about $100 more expensive than the Driveline. I've contacted Drive line several times and used the Heavy Duty Clutch Kits with YFZ-1000 Friction Plates and they have great Customer Service and there Clutch Kits are very high quality so I figured there lock up would be great quality too. I do hope they start making Clutch Baskets and Hubs. It would be nice if you could run all Driveline components. Anyway you guys get back with me if you have any suggestions regarding the 8 Plate Inner Hubs.

All I know is that I'm running a 7 plate clutch set up with a bunch of weight on the Direct Drive lockup on my 140hp 18DM and I don't have any issues. There is no reason under the sun that a Serval motor or anything with less than 100HP would need an 8 plate setup.

SEND ALL OF THAT 8 PLATE BS AND SEND IT BACK. KEEP THE BASKET AND USE 7 PLATES. INSTALL A SLINGSHOT AND LIGHT SPRINGS UNDER YOUR STOCK COVER AND BE DONE. NEVER WORRY ABOUT IT AGAIN. AN 8 PLATE WILL REDUCE PERFORMANCE IN BIKES THAT DINT NEED IT.

I called Jeff the other day and he told me the serval could be held with a new inner and outer hub and his clutch with light springs.

Yea, Jeff told me the same thing. The Hinson inner/Outer Hub Kit is high though. Around $800.
