  1. Very interested in the polished drag steering stem. Please send pics.
  2. What marvin shaw's do you still have available and is the clutch cover available without the lockout? Already have a different style of lockout, just need the case. PM me.
  3. Thanks for the responses guys! Great input! Now... Who's got a used set of Servals for sale?????
  4. What problems? Pre-ignition? Detonation? When I tear this thing down this winter, what issues should I look for (if i do indeed have any)?
  5. I wasn't sure if the alky would work with 20's. I'm with you bud. If I can run lower compression and comp it with advancement that's what I want. Domes don't cost much either compared to wiping out a set of cylinders and trashing a crank. The ricky stator stuff was mostly just convenience (fried EVERYTHING at little sahara). I thought about the Nology coil. Is the Dyna fairly easy to tune? Not too computer savy. I'm sure I'll just have to get one and play with it.
  6. I used to have some 28mm Mik's. I couldn't tell you what model they were though. What model would your recommend and who would you have do the mod's for the power jets? Another question... I've seen some issues come up with the duneable overrides with other peoples bikes and readin threads on other websites. I think it sounds like a great deal for what I'm looking to do temporarily. What's your experience with them? Too good to be true or actually a great mod? I've really wanted to try the dyna's but I was always "scared" of it because that kind of tuning seems to be over my head. I can jet and adjust timing with the stator plates by the feel of the seat, but I get nervous I guess when it comes to hooking it up to a computer. Are they fairly user friendly? I know 50 ?'s.... I want to have a port job done on the cubs. I've talked to a couple people and have gotten completely different responses on the outcome. One guys says it wasn't worth the money, they other said that it was night and day. I know it depends on the builder. I'm in Kansas so I've been thinkin about having Jeff at FAST do a job on them. With the cubs, since the port timing is already pretty drag, can you get pretty good gains with additional porting?
  7. Guys, I'm slowly but surely building another chassis to strictly drag race with. With the economy being in the tanker, I'm not making millions selling pumps and electric motors right now. So, money is a draw back right now. For the time being, I'm going to swap the motors back and forth (drag chassis for track races and weekends the wife doesn't want to go to the dunes). One thing I'd like to do is have a set of carbs set up for alcohol on the drag chassis, then stick with sunoco 112 on the play chassis. First question, is there any draw back to switching between the two several times a year, other than the obvious hastle? Second question, where's a good place to start on the set up. I've never set a banshee up on alchohol. I plan to buy a set of keihn 39pwk's set up on alchohol mainly because that's what I'm running right now on gas. Can you advance the timing enough with just an adjustable timing plate? What kind of timing advance does it entail? We run 35 degrees advanced on the circle burner race car. My current set up is listed below. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! FYI... Eventually I'll be moving the cub into the drag chassis full time and building a serval motor for the play chassis. 421 Cub w/ 17cc Domes, clean up port job Ricky Stator Adjustable Timing Plate Ricky Stator CDI OEM Coil Iridium Plugs Shears Small Bore In Frames Stock Cages w/ Boyesen Carbon Fiber Reeds (Soon to be Upgraded to VF3's w/ stuffers)
  8. Any news on what the schedule is for this coming weekend? I heard they open at 10AM and will race all day long. Not sure if its just a "for fun" deal and "everybody is a winner". Cam, you've run out there a couple times right? Did they do a bracket or anything like that?
  9. I'm super stoked for this! Any news on a schedule, fees, rules, etc?
  10. I absolutely love the Klotz products. Yeah, it smells so good that you'd wanna drink the shit! When I bought my first banshee 12 years ago, I also used yamalube. I never had problems with it not starting, but I would foul plugs about once a month. I accidentally used Klotz the first time at the dunes in Oklahoma because they didn't have any Yamalube in the store and I didn't bring enough for the weekend. I liked it but wasn't sold on it due to the price. My parents bought me two gallons of Super Techniplate as a birthday gift as a young boy. That's when I was sold on it! Two reasons. First, not once did I foul a plug through those two gallons. The only time I put new plugs in is on rebuilds. Even then, I didn't throw the plugs out. Kept them as emergency spares (still have em). Second, I would put rings and pistons in every winter and needed to. I would park the bike in the shop with huge compression losses around November and get to work. The Yamalube left almost a sludge in the bottom of the crank case. After the change to the Klotz, I went to rebuilding every two seasons (not really needing it, but did just do it basically) and the bottom of the crankcase was clean. Its apparent on how good that shit is just by tearing two motors down side by side one running yamalube and the other Klotz. You do that and anybody would be sold on it. Kinda lengthy post, but I truelly believe that a good product like this deserves a complimentary shout out.
  11. I'm looking for some opinions on the porting of the CP cheetah cub cylinders. I know hands down looking at the stockers there was all sorts of room for improvement, but the "cleaned up" form of the cubs look damn good. If i were to have a drag port done, can I really expect big improvements? Also, I built this motor before the Servals (sorry if the spelling is shit) were available, so does anybody do a "race" port? Something with a bit broader power band? I know those are two completely different things, but I'm building a drag bike right now and will most likely put the 421 in it. If that doesn't work out, I'll just make that meaner of a duner. I always used John Stallworth for stock cylinders and was extremely pleased. Not only did the thing run like a striped raped ape, but he's local and will talk your ear off. He's truely an enthusiast in what he does. Has anybody out there used John for doing any porting on cub cylinders? I'm sure all the sponsors on here are awesome, but John's never given me a reason to look else where. What say you guys?
  12. Had the jetting pretty close to perfect, ran the bike for a weekend this past fall and found my pod filters were too close to the exhaust. Made some PVC extentions (roughly 8") to get them away from the exhaust. Running short on time, I didn't run it around the house to make sure everything was cool. Got out in the dunes, and I can't dump the fuel to it. Will these extensions I made really affect my jetting that much? Runs awesome on top, but it takes some clutch and feathering to get up there. I assume I'm lean, but correct me if I'm wrong. Has anybody run into this? Oh, all the fittings are sealed. No vac leaks. Any input would be appreciated.
  13. A buddy of mine put his 450 on E100 a while back and I got a couple tips from him. Sounds like I'm gonna have to drill the mains. They make a big enough pilot i think though. Still trying to find somebody thats done it on a banshee. I seen a guy on here did it with EFI. I'd love to do that, but thats gonna have to wait. Keep the input coming guys! Any is better than none.
  14. Ya same here. From what I understand its not as harsh as methanol because it a grain alcohol where meth is a wood alcohol. You still get the cooling that alcohol provides, the performance gain (if done correctly). To be honest I'm really tired of paying an arm and leg for race fuel. Keep the comments and tips coming guys. I just may try to do this before my trip to the dunes over halloween.
  15. Been throwing the idea of E85 or E98 to run instead of race fuel. Anybody trying it? I've messed with methanol before, but not ethanol. My set up is 421 Cub, 17cc Domes, 39mm Airstrikers, Lighened flywheel, timing advanced 6 degrees. I'm in the south central area of Kansas. Let me know if anybody out there has tried it. Thanks!
  16. You buy the needles from Sudco? Also, where you put the air/fuel screw from bottom? The guy I got these from had the screw cracked half a turn out, 55 pilots, 160 mains, odk (could be wrong, I've slept since then) with the needle all the way down. Lol. I see why he didn't like the carbs. I don't think he had a clue as to what he was doing.
  17. No, not yet. Maybe after my wedding. They came with 160's and 170's. Stick the needle in center? By the way, the manifolds I got with these things don't have the ports for the balancing tube. What's this gonna affect? Thanks for the jetting tips.
  18. I picked up some 39mm PWK's for the right price, does anybody know a good starting point at? I'm in the Wichita, KS area. I did that elevation finder for little sahara in Waynoka, and it was 473 meters above see level unless I did it wrong...LOL. Any input is appreciated. Mods are listed below. Thanks! Shearers In Frame's (Small Bore) 421 Cub w/ 17cc Domes Cut stock cages with Boysen carbon fiber petals 32:1 Oil/Fuel Ratio K&N Pod Filters
  19. I just took the clutch fibers and steels out to be replaced with a new clutch. Noticed the pressure plate has some wear..."funny wear". Guys, I've got a machine shop next to my work, I've been considering having it turned a very very very little bit to have the wear pattern broken. I'd hate to trash it. It's a Hinson and it wasn't exactly cheap. Let me know if its worth a try.
  20. So what's the deal on the 8 plate? Does it work worth a sh!t? I'm just trying to make a clutch last in my cub. I don't wanna go with the override, not yet anyway. And from what I've read the lockup is a waste if you don't have the override. There's a company here in Wichita that sells a 10 disk kit but its like $800. Is the whole 8 plate thing some bullshit sale gimick? If I remember right the stock clutch is a 6 disk. Is it truely two more steels and two more fibers? Back to my original question, will the 8 plate hub and clutch set work with an after market basket. I've been told it will and then I see an 8 plate basket for sale. WTF?
  21. Anybody seen one of these "stealth lock up" around? It uses ball bearings for the centrifugal pressure applied as the RPM rises. They claim that at any RPM you can pull the clutch in. Also, I've been seeing these 8 plate clutch kits on ebay. I talked to a guy about the 8 plate inner hub. He told me that an 8 plate clutch will work with a Hinson clutch basket and the 8 plate inner hub. Let me know what everybody thinks.
  22. Where can I find the "Super Lites"? The only place I've seen them advertised was at Little Sahara in Oklahoma. I'm a cheap ass and I shop around alot.
  23. Titan Racing sells a very good priced 421 Cub with cylinders, head with 17 cc domes, and piston kit. I got mine for a bit over 1,300. They even do a small port job that they clean up all rough castings in the ports. The guy I dealt with is super nice and extremely knowledgeable. Everybody else I've seen for a new kit starts at 1500 and goes up and up due to having to buy all the hardware as accessories.
  24. Thats something I considered. If I remember right they are in the center position right now. Where should my air screws be?
