skinindustries Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 ok got my shee running for more then 30 seconds i found out it was this tube thing that connects both carbs.. but no i got no fire on left side well it will puff and thats about it does anyone know what to do?? i have a new coil and brand new plugs Quote
vulvafan537240 Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 did you check for a spark on the left side? if you were only choking the left side since the choke tube wasnt connected, you may have fouled out that plug. did you change the plug after you found the choke tube problem? Quote
skinindustries Posted February 14, 2009 Author Report Posted February 14, 2009 ohh man i never thought of that haha i never used the choke to start it tho. i always had to use starter fluid but now since i have that tube maybe i dont have to. i will check the plug today and get back and tell you guys if it works and if not we will go from there. swrbansheeboy Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 you can also swap the plug wires to see if your problem jumps cylinders. if it does then it's from the plug cap up(electrical), if not then it's from the spark plug down(plugs, carbs, compression and whatnot).... Quote
BlasterKX Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 sounds like carbs might need a real good cleaning. when i first got mine the choke side wouldnt run at a idle but when i rode it it was fine. so i cleand the carbs up and the pilot was all gunked up and blew it out then reassembled and ran like a champ. Quote
skinindustries Posted February 15, 2009 Author Report Posted February 15, 2009 i have already cleaned the carbs if i clean them again that will be the 4t time in less then a month. like when it runs it will pop i am goin to checkthe plug today cuz it just started to do it like 3 days ago when i started it i had smoke out of both pipes and the other day i had smoke outta 1 and it puffed outta the other. i am thinking it is the plug Quote
BlasterKX Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 ya that sods like a dirty carb still. i have cleaned mine so many times its not even funny. it only takes a small amount of dirt. just clean ur tools off real good when putting back together. have noticed that prob also.lol Quote
skinindustries Posted February 15, 2009 Author Report Posted February 15, 2009 yeah i dip my tools in water and wipe them down with a clean shop rag after every use i take super good care of my tools no sence in spending tons of money to ruin some nice tools i spent way to much on all my SK tools Quote
blue-banshee Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 from what your telling me it sounds like the slides are in the rong carbs, happend to me a while ago, i had nothing from the left side made me think it was a spark issue, and all the un-burt fuel comes out the left pipe Quote
skinindustries Posted February 15, 2009 Author Report Posted February 15, 2009 so just take and switch my slides see if that helps? i am goin to work on it in about an hour so i will try all these things you guys told me. and get back on and give you guys further info on it. thanks for all the help this puts me one step closer. I bought the bike with a bunch of shit wrong with it. It was so bad that when i took the head off there was water all over in the engine i had to tear it apart a replace a bunch of shit, now i finally got it running all i really need is a clutch cable. But i am layed off so money is really tight. Quote
skinindustries Posted February 16, 2009 Author Report Posted February 16, 2009 ok can someone pu up a pic of the right way the lides go into the carbs. i want to know what the TORS look like when they are in the right way Quote
AKheathen Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 ok can someone pu up a pic of the right way the lides go into the carbs. i want to know what the TORS look like when they are in the right way i can't show pics, but the little dots line up with the windows, and there is a 45degree recess on the bottom that goes tward the outside of the bike. it's there for an idle screw when you remove tors. Quote
skinindustries Posted February 16, 2009 Author Report Posted February 16, 2009 yeah i know dude im not to stoked on the TORS either.. and as for the slides the noth in the slide goes towards the back of the carb. that is how i had them and i only got fire sometimes on the left side Quote
swrbansheeboy Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 if you look at the bottom of your slides you will see that they have a windowed side, these are supposed to face the rear of the bike when installed properly. if the brass tabs are intact in the carb bodies then there are only two ways to install your slides, correctly (with the windows facing the rear of the bike) or incorrectly ( windows facing the engine). from the sounds of it you have them installed correctly... have you tried swapping your plug wires yet?
