JimmyBones Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Choke side cylinder will not fire. I have spark, fuel and air. There's no amount of adjusting to the carb i can do to get to sputter. I do have compression. What the hecks going on? Quote

Cleaned them all today. Totally broke down the carb and cleaned it took the main out. Needle looks good. Took out the air adjust. Which one is the pilot jet though? There's only one jet in the carb bowl to take out and thats the main.. right? Quote

There's only one jet in the carb bowl to take out and thats the main.. right? the pilot jet is smaller and up in a little hole.You need a small flat screwdriver to remove it. I bet its clogged. Quote

I bet its clogged. ok, relative to where the main jet is, where is it? i removed the float bowls and all that and saw nothing to be removed by a flat head. And the pilot jet would cause the cylinder to not run at all? I would've thought it would still run just off the gas it got through the main even if it was rough. Quote

I would've thought it would still run just off the gas it got through the main even if it was rough. you cant miss it, its near the main jet, its a thin metal tube, look down it you will see a tiny golden screw.. you need a very thin flathead screwdriver to put it in and take it out Quote

So I switched the petcock on and gas barely trickled out of the choke side line. So could it be there isn't enough pressure pushing the fuel down to be picked up on that side? It just doesnt make sense why the gas would flow fine to the right side but not the left. Quote

It just doesnt make sense why the gas would flow fine to the right side but not the left. you could have a clog in the t, also is your vent tube on the gas cap kinked? i had my bike fall off on the left cylinder one time and checked everything, after 15 minuits of troubleshooting it turned out that the vent tube on the cap was kinked under the plastic where i couldnt see it and it was vapor locking the tank so it wouldnt flow... just an idea... you can try swapping your fuel line left to right and see if it changes cylinders...
