Ive read alot on here about going with the hod rods +4+5, but ive also read about hod rod cranks breaking behind the flywheel.Ive been on ebay for the past few months and have seen numerous hod rod cranks that have bent rods or low hours need rebuilt.Now-the bent rod thing i alredy am sure somebody had a major clearance issue that wasn't in their favor, and cant say thats the crank.I havent heard alot of bad things about the vitos crank-quality wise so much-just the stock rod breaking piston skirts. So is it still as bad if i run the vito and have it 4 mil ported and cut domes,as if i would run a spacer which im not.If the jugs are lower, would that help the angle, make it worse or not change it?Really, what im asking is-i have the vito crank-can i run it and think i have a reliable bike or is shit gonna grenade.I will sell it but id rather not go through the hassle if there isnt a big reliability issue. Thanks guys!!!!!!

i've ran a short rod 4,5 and a 7 mill crank in the past for over 2 years and never had any problems.the long rod is always more reliable, but you cant compare the rev out of a short rod...if your port jod is on Q,you'll be very happy with it.

In my opinion, go with the hot rod crank or even maybe a crankworks.. never liked anything vitos made.. Jmo. And if you want to spend some money get a twister

i run the vitos 4mil crank w/ stock rods and ive never had any problems with it. i built the engine in the spring of last year and it has alot of hours and hard ride time on it and i havent had to touch the engine. people are gonna recommened the longrod over stock rods on a 4mil and my local builder says the longrod will give you a little more torque down low but ive been %100 satisfied with mine. i go from trails to wide open roads to drags to sand and it hasnt let me down yet. with the money you'd save with not buying a longrod stroker you could buy some other good mods to go along with the stroker IMO

Some people will say the short rod revs faster.

And the long rod puts less stress on the motor.

Remember the long rod requires blaster/795 pistons if you do choose it.

And make sure you port to match it.

I guess the people having Hot Rod crank problems must not be on HQ. I have only really herd of one person complian about the flywheel arbor breaking off. I am sure hot rods took care of that problem for them.

They all comes from 2-3 factories in Taiwan... The stock Yamaha Rods are for sure stronger than n hotrods or wiseco rod... I DO NOT SAY that the aftermarket ones are "junk"... I run the hotrods strokers, but stock rods has unbeatable strength, I guess thats the differance between the Japs and Taiwanese...

I haven't heard of a crank that snapped behind the flywheel...
