ksf3377 Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 (edited) im new to the banshee scene so plz try and keep the flaming to a minimum  bike has paul turner mid range pipes, K&N filter with no lid, trinity 2 to 1 and 25mm carb, +3 timing..... i ride mostly trails with the occasional trip to the dunes. from what ive read porting seems like the best bang for buck power wise so i guess im going to get in touch with jeff at F.A.S.T. i guess what im trying to say is since im going to port this thing for an agessive trail/dune port are there any other performance mods i should look into that might be necessary before porting? Thanks for the help in advance and let me kno if there isnt enough info Edited January 28, 2009 by ksf3377 Quote
JdiZzla Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 if youre lookin for more engine mods i would go for a noss cool head. and if i were you i would put on extended a-arms like +2 +1 with some dual or tripple rate shocks Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 you need to get rid of the single carb setup and go back to dual carbs. thats a must. i would also recommend a NOSS head. give FAST a call and jeff will be happy to talk to you about what you need. Quote

Thanks for the help in advance and let me kno if there isnt enough info you said "trinity 2 to 1 and 25mm carb", theres no way you are running a 25mm carb for 2 cylinders. maybe its a typo and you meant 35mm? if you get porting, the thing that you MUST get are carbs( highly reccomended dual carbs, id go with dual carbs at 30mm each in your case, and not the noss head etc. thats optional, the biggest thing that you will need to get the most out of porting is new carbs. then come the other things. as for a arms and shocks etc, personally i would leave those for last, i personally prefer power over comfort when spending my money. thats just me and it seems you are also looking for more power and not comfort. I also have boyesen pro series reeds as well. if i get dual carbs will i be sacrificing much bottom end? because the trails i ride are pretty tight and thats why i went with the single carb setup. after porting would i need a larger single carb if i wanted to stick with the single carb setup? sorry for the dumb questions Quote

I prefer the 28's over the single, the bike has more top end and I personally didn't feel much difference down low. I run everything from super tight 1 way trails to WFO trails and haven't had any issues lugging her around. Plus having the little extra at the top comes in handy when you need to whip the rear end around and the throttle responce is much crisper. Listen to loco and get the head too, it will really benifit you with being able to change out the combustion chambers and that will help out your low end grunt as well. I just recently picked up a used pro design head off of ebay for only $115 so if your on a budget, you can still find some pretty decent deals out there. Quote

DallasGDub Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Welcome!!! Those PT's are great in trails. It is a very punchy pipe. I loved mine. If you ride trails, I would say shocks and arms are a good move, however, the cost is all at once. So get your power plant right and the way you like it first. You can do a little at a time, like carbs, timing, porting, head, ext....it is easier on your budget. Quote
