Just curious if anyone uses red threalock or if everyone uses the medium blue. Blue for the head and cylinder bolts?

What about gasket sealant? Do you guys use any or just put the gaskets on dry?

Also, is regular multi-purpose grease good for the necessary greasing in the motor and pistons? Any parts in particular you shouldnt grease in the motor?

Thanks

This is what I like to use. I'm sure there will be alot of different opinions though.

Blue Loc-Tite on all bolts (Just a dab)

Permatex Form-A-Gasket on larger gaskets (Little white plastic can with a brush in it)

ATF in the cylinders (Helps seat the rings, and lubes the cylinder walls)

Yamabond for the cases

i was actually thinking about this myself, so you use the form a gasket, everywhere you change a gasket? what about o rings? i am going to be slapping in the pro design water pump, so where should i use the form a gasket? i already have new clutch cover and water pump seals.

Personally, I only use it on large gaskets, like the clutch cover. I wouldn't worry about it on your water pump cover. You could, just for added security, but not really neccessary. As far as o-rings, just a thin layer of wheel bearing grease or vasoline works great.

So where can I get this gasket stuff, since I am going to change both clutch gaskets? Autozone? Can I use it on the stator cover side too?

stator cover just uses a thick reusable rubber gasket. and for sealing the cases you can use Threebond BHQ yamahond link and everything else is available at autozone. the three bond is either a performance shop/builder/ internet item.
