locogato11283 Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 did you plug in the stator? Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted January 17, 2009 Author Report Posted January 17, 2009 plug in stator? all my wires going to stator is soldered. i didnt have to unhook anything. just took out screws and moved it out the way to take off stock plate. then installed new advance plate and used stainless allenheads to secure everything back in place. would using stainless make it not ground? thats the only thing i changed. this is really confusing! its gotta be something small. is there any way pickup or stator couldve crapped out on me? ran fine before this. regalrocket Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 What is your pickup gap set at? Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted January 17, 2009 Author Report Posted January 17, 2009 i couldnt find gap feelers no where so i just used buisness card......so im not exactly sure. but its not firing at all, took out a plug and nothing. dumb question but is there any thing i couldve shorted out taking stator off? i thought i couldve swore i seen a spark when i was using pliers to take off the 3 screws holding stator in.... its not energized right? this stator concept is new to me as usually everything i deal with has a battery. i have a fluke meter what could i check and what readings should i look for? thanks again for all the help. Ieat4strokes Posted January 18, 2009 Author Report Posted January 18, 2009 c'mon i know im not the only person in the world this has happened to....... how do i test the stator and pickup? could one have crapped out on me during timing plate install? Quote
xsinnerx Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 c'mon i know im not the only person in the world this has happened to....... how do i test the stator and pickup? could one have crapped out on me during timing plate install? did you use a flywheel puller when removing the flywheel? dbl and trpl check the solder connections. dont over look dumb things like the kill switch in the right position and if you still have a key, that it is also in the correct position. make sure that the flywheel nut didnt come loose. Quote
RUDEDAWG Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Double check that you installed the flywheel key correctly. Just a guess, hope you get her back up and running again. Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted January 18, 2009 Author Report Posted January 18, 2009 yes i used a flywheel puller, i dont have a key switch never had one since ive owned it. The on/off switch was in the on position. i still have tors, can i unplug it to disable it just to rule that out? if so can i just unplug at the tors controller close to the coil? i have a tors eliminator on the way..... but yes i suppose i put the key in the crankshaft right? it sits in the slot on shaft like a boat? just dont understand why i wouldnt have spark. even if the timing was 180 off it would still spark.... something happened, this sucks ass.... had a big day planned tomm Quote
chadj1980 Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 I would guess that you have it gapped to far...I would try something a little thinner than a business card. I use a magazine cover it is a little thinner than a business card... Quote
04chase Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 i know i used a feeler guage on mine when i set it and when tightening the screws it would back out some so i would try that first and see where your at. Quote
AKheathen Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 ok, somthin happened, so now u have to find it. for you're first q, the stator, cdi side, wires are red/white, and green/white. should measure 13.7-20.5 ohms. the other 2 wires are the pickup to the cdi, but i can't remember what the measure. unplug the little tors box next to the coil, and make sure the black/white wire in the harness side plug has no continuity with ground. make sure the black wire does. the flywheel didn't rattle did it? Quote
bansheejoel Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 i would check your pickup connections.........when i got my shee the pickup gap was almost twice what the spec was but it still got spark and ran ok I would also check stator plug. it should be by your airbox, just trace the wires untill you find it. If you go to the home page of this sight it has (tech docs) and in there you will find a great article that has all the specs and info you need to troubleshoot your electrical it's under (Banshee Electrical Faqs) ) Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted January 18, 2009 Author Report Posted January 18, 2009 ok heres the rundown.... got me a manual from a friend. followed it to a T. usuing a fluke meter i got 111 from the pickup and nothing from stator..... also got 1 from primary side of coil and nothing from secondary (measuring caps from neg terminal on coil.... so is my coil and stator bad??? wtf Quote
